You may type in the MAC address you want to allow or deny to access the router on the router's EWS page. However, you do not have this option on the printer's EWS page. In this case, where you are using a public network, you will not be able to use the MAC filtering feature as you are not the admin/owner of the router.

 

The only method is to use Wifi-Direct and change the default password to secure it.

For more info on connecting the printer via Wifi-Direct, refer to this document.

Do you experience the same issue when making Photocopies?

 

This seems to be a Hardware issue. If the issue persists while making Photocopies, please contact HP Support for Service Options

I understand that you are getting printhead missing message.

 

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

 

Please perform the below steps and check.

 

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on. 

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue. 

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. 

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. 

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds. 

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. 

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer. 

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. 

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed 

If the issue still persists, please remove all ink cartridges and also, remove the printhead and clean the electrical contacts.

 

If the issue still persists, You have to replace the printhead and check.

HP8620 Missing or failed printhead

Hi

I have been using HP8620 for few years now.

A month ago I started having "Missing or failed printhead"

First i tried to upgrade firmware but it seems I have latest one .

I bought new heads and replaced them yet it did not help

Tried removing and inserting heads again.....yet I get the same message 

Tried to clean the  contacts while doing the following procedure :

Yet I get the same error ......

in the printer dashboard the ink levels shows full .

Any suggestions ?

OK, now I am really unhappy!

 

I went to %temp% - no folder starting with '7z' so I was unable to execute L4.bat. I probably should have stopped at that point.

 

I went to %programfiles% and was unable to delete the HP/Hewlett Packard folders because some files were in use by running programs. So, thinking that you know what you are talking about and that these folders should be removed, I booted Windows in Safe mode and removed the folders.

 

After reboot in normal mode the HP Envy 5660 shows 'Driver not found' so I cannot print to it. I attempted to uninstall HP Envy 5660 from program list but it states that driver files cannot be found so the program will not uninstall. I'm pretty sure this is because I deleted the HP/Hewlett Packard folders.

 

You have successfully led me to a point where I still cannot print to the HP Envy 5660 printer and now I have an orphaned program installed that I cannot uninstall.

 

At least I can still print to the HP Photosmart 7520.

 

I'm not sure at this point whether I want more instructions from you, but I would like to know how I can get rid of the orphaned HP Envy 5660 program. I tried installing it again, but that process ended very quickly indicating basically that the program is already installed.

 

Any other words of wisdom?

Yes it does exist with copying.  This printer is 5 1/2 years old and I have an 8610 that I can use the ink on.  My solution is to junk this printer and order a new one.  I suspect this is much cheaper than sending it in for repair.

Can I use XL ink cartridges in my printer and how do I get them to fit?

I bought ink cartridges for my printer ( HP OfficeJet Pro 8610)  and realized I bought XL Ones.  They don’t seem to fit in the cartridge compartment, but the ink package says it’s compatible.  The ink I bought is the right ink # (951) but it says XL. Can I make them work?

Hi

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Perform step 2 from this document.

Printer hasn't worked since trying generic cartridges

A few months ago, I tried using generic ink cartridges in my printer. They did not work, so I went back to HP cartridges. However, I'm still having problems. It just says "General Printer Error" on  the HP Solution Center. When I try to print a sample page, nothing happens on the printer. Same thing happens when I try to print any kind of document. I can see the Estimated Ink Levels on the screen, so it's like my computer is sensing the printer. It's just not communicating with it.

 

I know someone will probably tell me to reinstall the drivers, and to unplug the printer from the wall... I did a complete reset of my computer last weekend (for unrelated reasons), and my printer has been unplugged for months. I just reinstalled the drivers today. Prior to resetting the computer and reinstalling it, it wasn't even picking up Ink Levels, so there's at least some progress.

Muah!!!  It's printing in color again!!!  I have to admit, I was like really? Uninstall again?  But I followed all of the steps (with a few modifications because files weren't in the same place), & it worked!!  I'm so thrilled!!  Thank you so much for your help!!

  • The ink cartridges that go with the printers are setup ink cartridges that are designed to initialize the printer. These ink cartridges are not available in local stores.
  • Performing an OOB reset on the printer may help.
  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

They must fit, try again, there is no difference in size (besides ink content) between standard and XL  cartridges.

I understand that the Office Jet 8610 Printer unable to recognize my Wifi Network.

 

Please set up the printer as a USB connection, then configure the wireless by the USB connection.

  1. Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your printer, and then click the icon for your printer. The printer software opens.

  2. Click Printer Setup & Software Selection.

  3. Click Convert a USB connected printer to wireless or Connect a new printer (the phrase differs depending on the version of software your computer is running).

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer on a wireless network.

Where did you buy new printhead?

Was is new or refurbished?

Did new printhead come with 4 new setup ink cartridges? 

 

New genuine printhead should arrive in a kit with 4 ink cartridges.

Error message when inserting new HP 62XL Color cartridge

I am trying to install a new HP 62XL color cartridge in my HP Envy 7640 printer. I keep getting an error message "Remove and reinstall the indicated Ink cartridge, making sure it is correctly installed, and then touch OK." The cartridge consistently snaps securely into the space where it is supposed to go. I have removed it and replaced it with the old cartridge that was low on ink and I do not get that message. Office Depot says I can get a replacement or refund from HP if the cartridge is still under warranty; however, I cannot ever seem to be able to talk to anyone at HP. Very frustrating.

Hi

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Try making a standalone copy in color and black to identify the defective ink cartridge. 

 

Check the estimated ink levels, Replace any low or empty ink cartridges.

On the printer control panel, touch the Ink icon  to display the current estimated ink levels.

 

Clean the ink cartridges

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.

  3. f the print quality is unacceptable, touch OK for a Second-level Cleaning when prompted to continue the next level of cleaning.

    NOTE: 

    If the ink cartridge nozzles are badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

Also, perform step 14 mentioned in this document.

 

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Print Quality Report.
