Installed a new color cartridge. Confirmed that it was installed but will only print black.

Went through the normal installation process and confirm that it was installed correctly but now will only print black.

Welcome to HP support community.

 

Remove the ink cartridges, and reset the printer

  1. Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE: 

    HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

  6. Turn the printer on.

  7. Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

  8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration or alignment page, do so.

And if the issue still persists, this could be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

This is the second time this has happened to me with a DeskJet 4675! This is obviously a software/firmware issue, it also happens when scanning using the web interface by typing the printer's IP so it's entirely housed in the PRINTER and not the computer. My Printer is fully up to date - in fact, the first time it happened was immediately after a software update one year ago - https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Latest-firmware-causes-ADF-to-only-ever-scan-the-first-page/td-p/6831317

The last time it happened, it "magically" fixed itself FOR ALL OF MY COMPUTERS after I installed the HP software on JUST ONE computer. Previously (and now) I normally use the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.

 

I am a software engineer so I know what I'm talking about - the software installation is obviously raising some kind of flag in the printer and THERE'S A BUG IN THE PRINTER'S FIRMWARE when this flag is not set.

Right now I still have the HP software installed but it's doing the exact same thing - only scanning the first page.

 

The reason I'm writing this post is this: DO NOT OFFER ME "SOLUTIONS"! CREATE A FIRMWARE UPDATE ASAP TO FIX THIS ISSUE FOR EVERYONE. THIS IS A HP SOFTWARE BUG AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY HP, NOT BY USERS.

 

This bug was in YOUR software for well over a year, affecting MANY of your users and causing needless frustration. I'm sure that thousands of customers experiencing this issue have already decided never to buy HP printers again after this. FIX IT!

Copies are smeared but

Copies are smeared and patchy. Print jobs are fine. Ink levels are fine. Seems to only occur with copying.

Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?

If it prints blank pages while coping, follow the below steps:

Clean the printhead

  1. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  2. Open the Printer Maintenance menu.

  3. If necessary, open the Tools menu, and then touch Clean Printhead.

    A test page prints.

  4. Examine the test page.

    • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. If necessary, repeat these steps for the third cleaning cycle.

      NOTE: 

      If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.

    • If the print quality is acceptable, touch Done.

I'm having this problem and have used every troubleshooter that's been suggested. I reset my wi-fi router, printer, computer, and everything else imaginable. Still in an error state. I tried printing directly from the printer and not using my computer...that worked great! Now why can't I use my computer to print? Both are on the same network and show they have the wi-fi signal. 

 

It started giving me this error state message after yesterday. I had tried to print something and it my computer kept telling me that my printer was offline. I looked online for help with that and finally got it back online after resetting the wifi on the printer itself. I was excited thinking that I would finally be able to print and then I started getting the error state message! It's driving me crazy. I've only have this crappy printer for a couple of months and I'm becoming unhappy with it very quickly. Of course it is only doing this because I have things that I NEED to print. Please help!! I'm not great with technology so try not to get too technical.

I am getting a message on my printer that the printhead is damaged. Is it worth replacing it on the HP Officejet 6600?

And if so how do I replace it?

Hi

 

Thanks for confirming. The printer is trying to connect through the Wi-Fi Direct. 

 

To turn Wi-Fi Direct off - 

 

On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds. When Wi-Fi Direct is turned off, the Wi-Fi Direct icon on the display is off.

Documents sent to my printer queue (HP Envy 7645) just disappear without printing even though the printer and computer appear to be connected. The problem started suddenly. It had been working fine in the morning, then wouldn't in the afternoon. No software changes were made between when it worked and when it didn't. A test page sent from Settings:Devices:Printers&Scanners:{PrinterName}:Manage:Printer Properties (Windows 10) Says "Test Page failed to print. Would you like to open the Troubleshooter?" (or something close to that). The Troubleshooter can't find a problem. I've tried rebooting the printer and the computer in various combinations and uninstalling and re-installing the printer. The printer itself is working fine and will print reports and make copies without a problem.

 

Interestingly, a test page sent from Settings:Devices:Printers&Scanners:{PrinterName}:Manage (eg. without going into printer properties) shows (on that screen) as "Printer Status: 1 doc in queue" for a few seconds before returning to "Printer: idle". I have to go into Printer Properties to get the trouble message. I don't know if this is significant. Thanks!


Printing not lined up on paper labels

Printing does not line up on the page of blank labels (Avery 5430) It starts printing at the very top edge of the paper and all the labels are misaligned after that.  Robert

I've read the old threads of people with the same problem and tried a new black cartridge as well.  I also believe that my issue of not printing any black began after installing new color cartridges.  What can I do?  My warranty was out a few months ago. I need this for work!

Thanks for replying. 

 

I'd suggest you try setting the print quality to Best Mode and check.

 

If the issue still persists, try cleaning the ink cartridges. Refer to step# 10 to 13 from this document for step by step instructions.

The HPSmart App isn't installing completely.  It gets hung up and just spins when it tries to open.  I am unable to connect and scan documents to my laptop.

I have a macbook with macOS 10.14.6
