New Officejet 8728 will not print

Have followed HP installation instructions via 123.hp.com, then uninstalled reinstalled using HP disc. Have had Windows 10 unistalled and reinstalled by MS remote access. 

Printer will not print. It will print internal test page fine. It will scan fine.

 

Connecting to Dell optiplex 790 via USB cable. Connected to previous HP officejet (now broken) fine using the same cable.

 

Can send to print fine on networked HP printer, but need my own printer in my office.

 

At end of my tether and hope someone has a suggestion to get this priter printing!

Thank you for respoding to my query, but I seemed to have fixed the problem, how I am not sure. I did turn everything off and reset my default printer and a few other things which I have forgotten. Thanks again,

printer not printing or copying - display says "copying" or "printing", nothing happens

 

It's had its first new ink cartridges in the last week but has printed since then. First problem was with downloaded pdf, now it's everything. It just sits there with the printing or copying message, and a blue and white scrolling bar.

Wireless connection to my laptop.

But since it's not copying either, must be the printer itself? Any ideas?

Edit - solved! I turned it off and on again (I know) and it came up with an unknown ink cartridge message. Once I ok'd that it was fine.

This printer has always worked well, but lately he is very slow. I've got all the solutions that are done on the website. It does not solve.

On cleaning it printed a test page OK.  Nothing else though. As far as I could see it was telling me the ink level was OK. 

I then decided to take out cartridge and clean head. It printed one sheet ok, only part of the second one  and then decided to tell me it was out of ink!  So now suspect solution is a new ink cartridge...

 HP Officejet Pro 8718

 

Can any one tell me how to refill cartridges for above printer. I previousley had  HP Officejet Pro 8610, (they have updated

that model to the   HP Officejet Pro 8718) and had no problem. Is there any way to do this, what has HP done to theese cartridges to stop you from doing this.  I refuse to pay over £100 for new cartridges.  Any help would be useful.  Thank you

Hi thanks for your reply, but my printer is completely unresponsive - there is no sign of life at all!  Further to this, my printer has now conceded that it is not connected wirelessly.  I do not know how to proceed as when I tried to connect my printer by pressing the WPS buttons on the printer and the router, I lost all my broadband and had to ring up Virgin to reconnect me.

Thanks for the reply and letting me know that you have connected the printer to your computer over a USB. 

But, I am still unable to understand what you mean by unable to print online. 

Do you mean to say that you are unable to print websites or email from your browser?

If so, which browser are you using?

Have you tried different browsers?

When you say you are able to print offline, do you mean to say that you are able to print locally saved files on your computer?

 

Request you to provide more information for better assistance. 

 

Recommend you do a clean uninstall of the printer by following the procedure mentioned below and install it back. 

 

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top. 
  • Click on print server properties. 
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box, 
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Restart the PC again. 
  • Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.
  • Power On/Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

No because we do not have wireless in the office.

   La stampante in oggetto si accende da solo e azionando il pulsante di spegnimento non si spegne. Per stampare devo scollegare cavo di alimentazione e riattaccarlo .Cosa devo fare? Premetto che ho esguito l 'installazione oiu' volte ma il problema persiste. Grazie

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

 

The PC will lose the wifi connection momentarily during the WIfi setup and SW installation of the printer.  This information is highlighted during the software installation.  Once the printer is setup, the PC should not lose connection (same for the printer)

 

Were you able to print and scan after the software installation?

Thanks for sharing that tip!  One other permanent way is to spray a little WD40 at the clamp area, then it will be able to extend and retract easily. Smiley Happy

Can't Claim Ink Jet Purchase Reward

hprewards.austin.hp.com refused to connect.

 

And when I went on the support forum this is happening over and over again.

 

Really truly poor customer service.  WHy on earth would you send a reward pop up to a site that doesn't work?  Leaves me with no confidence in HP at all.
