Re: Wireless Printer Offline

Greetings

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you need assistance in reconfiguring the router on your printer, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Are you able to make a copy on the printer?

To reconfigure the printer on the new router, you would need to uninstall the software and settings completely and reconfigure it on your computer.

Please follow the procedure mentioned below for assistance.

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. Smiley Happy I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer cuts off the bottom inch of the page. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Does the issue persist while making a photocopy? If yes then it indicates towards a hardware issue.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

I hope this helps. Let me know what happens. Cheers!

I have the hp Envy 7640 and have Windows 10 as my operating system.  This problem started after my computer crashed and Iost all my data.  The tech had to take my cpu to the shop in order to retrieve my data.  He returned it, reinstalled programs and the printer.   At age 81, I'm not tech savvy to do what you suggested as a first means.  Can you give me an easier way to fix it?

You do not have a printer problem.   Calling HP will be a waste of time.

Your font size is not controlled by your printer.  If is the application that actually does the printing is where you need to change the font size.   So whatever program you use, MS Word, Wordpad, Notepad, you have to change the font size there to sent the larger size to the printer.

Hello, - Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are having trouble printing from the internet. To help you with the issue, I need to know the operating system on your PC. Reply with the details for specific steps.

Also, try to print using a different web-browser and then try and print. If the issue persists, then try to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers.

Assuming you are using a Windows PC, let’s first try to fix this issue using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Please go to http://hp.care/2bZ9w2q to download and run HP PSDR. Once you open the program, select your printer and click on “Fix Printing” to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

Good luck Smiley Happy

Hello, - Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are having trouble printing from emails or Quicken on one of the printers. It could be an issue with the printer drivers. You can try to reinstall the printer drivers to fix the issue. To provide you with the specific steps I need to know whether this is an Officejet 4500 or an Envy 4500. Let me know the same.

Alternatively, here are the steps to reinstall the printer drivers:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control Panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy / Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control Panel – Devices and Printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now clickhttp://hp.care/2uUADaw and enter the printer model number to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck Smiley Happy

Printing off centre in better and best quality in Word

I'm trying to print labels in Word. When I print in 'Better'  or 'Best' quality the labels are off centre so that the margin at the bottom of the page is huge but is tiny at the top of the page.

If I print in draft quality then it is fine. Is there anything I can do?

I found the IPC number and typed it in.  It claimed it knew about the printer and knew how much ink is left in the printer.  The printer then managed to print the HP Network Configuration Page from the laptop.  I looked at the printout and it said the printer does know about the laptop and recognises it, but it  just can't print any emails or anything from the internet for some unknown reason.

Hi ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues printing on your HP OfficeJet printer. Don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

How is the printer connected? USB/Wireless

Hare you tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE

Next thing, I would suggest here is to Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13 ). Restart the PC

14 ).Now click on this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL54342/mp-131169-2/OJ6800_73.exe and install the updated printer drivers

15 ). Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!

Good Luck.
