@paul39921982, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The “There is a problem with the printer or ink system” message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus usually indicates either a hardware issue, a cartridge detection error, or a clogged/failed printhead. Since you've already installed brand new cartridges, here’s a step-by-step guide to try and fix it:

🔧 Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:

Perform a Power Reset

  • With the printer ON, disconnect the power cable from the back.
  • Unplug from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug it directly into a wall outlet (no surge protector or power strip).
  • Reconnect the power to the printer and turn it on.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Wipe the electrical contacts (copper-colored area) gently with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinstall them one by one and ensure each clicks into place.

Clean the Printhead

If the error persists, try this:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to: Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead
  • Run the cleaning cycle 2–3 times if necessary.

Manual Printhead Cleaning (if needed)

  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Lift the latch inside the printer to remove the printhead assembly (be careful—it can be messy).
  • Clean the bottom of the printhead (where ink comes out) using a damp lint-free cloth.
  • You can also soak the printhead in warm distilled water for a few minutes, then let it dry thoroughly before reinstalling.

Update Firmware (if accessible)

If you can get into the printer menu or HP Smart software, check for firmware updates. Sometimes bugs in the ink system are resolved this way.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove the cartridges.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back in.
  6. Wai for few minutes and then insert the cartridges (let printer prompt for cartridges)

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Next, let’s remove any old settings that could be causing problems. On your laptop, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Remove device. Then, go to Device Manager, under Print queues, and uninstall any drivers related to your printer. Now, reinstall it using HP Smart, this is the easiest way to ensure your printer is properly set up.

If the printer still doesn’t show up or keeps going offline, check your Wi-Fi network and make sure it’s connected to the same network as your laptop and phone. If possible, assign the printer a static IP address in your router settings so it doesn’t keep "disappearing."

Also, refer to these helpful guides (these are for your reference):

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP LaserJet Pro M15w printer. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cable from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Toner Cartridge

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Carefully remove the toner cartridge.
  3. Inspect for:
    • Excess toner leakage.
    • Damaged drum or wiper blade.
    • Toner cartridge improperly installed.
  4. Gently shake the cartridge side to side (if it's not leaking) and reinstall it.⚠️ If the toner is a third-party or refilled cartridge, try replacing it with a genuine HP 48A (CF248A) toner cartridge.

Print a Self-Test Page (no PC involved)

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Press and hold the Resume/Cancel button.
  3. While holding it, turn the printer on.
  4. Continue holding the button until the Attention light blinks once, then release it.The printer should print a configuration/self-test page.➡️Check if the test page is also fully black. If yes, the issue is definitely hardware-related (toner or internal printer component).

Driver or Software Conflict Check (if test page was fine)

If the self-test page is not black, but only documents from your PC are black:

  1. Reinstall the driver:
    • Go to Control Panel> Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer > Remove Device.
  2. Download the latest driver for Windows 11 from HP's support site.
  3. Try printing from a different program (e.g., Notepad vs. Word).

Firmware Update

Sometimes a firmware issue can cause abnormal print behavior.

  1. Visit the HP M15w support page.
  2. Download and install the latest firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@Apierce35, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY Photo 7855 is stuck on the HP loading screen and won’t fully boot up, it’s likely a firmware issue, power-related glitch, or a corrupted setting. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and (hopefully) fix the issue:

Perform a Hard Reset

This clears temporary glitches without affecting saved data.

  1. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer (while it’s still on).
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall, then into the printer.
  5. Press the Power button if it doesn’t turn on automatically.

➡️See if it gets past the loading screen.

Remove USB or SD Card Devices

Sometimes attached devices can prevent booting.

  1. Remove any USB drives, SD cards, or external storage connected to the printer.
  2. Try booting again.

Power Reset + Button Combo (Semi-Reset)

This is a deeper reset and may help if the printer firmware is glitching.

  1. Unplug the power again.
  2. Press and hold the Power + # + 6 keys together.
  3. While holding them, plug in the power cable.
  4. Continue holding for about 10-15 seconds, then release.

You may see a “Semi-Full Reset” screen if successful.⚠️This may reset some settings and clear network configuration.

Try a Firmware Recovery (Optional – for tech-savvy users)

If your printer is recognized over USB, you might be able to push firmware from your PC.

  1. Go to HP’s official firmware page for the 7855:HP ENVY Photo 7855 Drivers & Downloads.
  2. Download the latest Firmware Utility for Windows.
  3. Run the utility with the printer connected via USB.
  4. If the printer is detected, follow prompts to re-flash firmware.

Note: If it’s not detected, this method won’t work.

Service Mode / Recovery Mode (Last Resort)

HP printers don’t all have user-accessible recovery modes, but if you’re up for trying:

  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Hold Back arrow + Home or Cancel + Power (depends on model).
  3. Plug in the power while holding the buttons.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@Beck12311, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
We understand that you are facing printhead error.
Please follow these steps,

Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  1. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  4. Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Remove and Reinstall the Ink Cartridges

Even if they look fine, let’s go through a clean reseating process:

  1. Power on the printer.
  2. Open the cartridge access door.
  3. Wait for the carriage to stop moving.
  4. Remove all cartridges gently.
  5. Check for any ink leaks, torn chips, or packaging tape.
  6. Reinsert them firmly until they click into place.
  7. Close the access door.

 Check the Printhead Carriage

The 8024e uses a fixed printhead (not removable by design), but you can:

  • Power OFF the printer and unplug from the wall.
  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Gently slide the carriage back and forth to see if it’s moving freely.
  • Look for any obstructions, paper bits, ink puddles, or dried ink.
  • Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to lightly clean around the carriage and contact points if you see ink buildup.

Let it dry, plug the printer back in, and turn it on again.

Update the firmware

  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer
  • Or use HP Smart app → Settings → Advanced Settings → Tools → Printer Updates

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@LadybugDesigns1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0xB8CE4066 on the HP Envy 5070 All-in-One Printer typically indicates a firmware or internal hardware error, often related to:

  • A failed firmware update or glitch
  • Corrupted print job or queue
  • Internal printer memory or sensor fault

Here’s how you can troubleshoot and (often) resolve it:

🔁 Step 1: Power Reset the Printer

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it's on.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall and then into the printer.
  6. Turn the printer on again.

This clears out residual power and can resolve firmware lockups.

🧼 Step 2: Clear the Print Queue (on your PC)

  1. On Windows, press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop.
  3. Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete any files there.
  4. Go back to services.msc and Start the Print Spooler again.

💾 Step 3: Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware

If your printer starts working again temporarily, immediately check for a firmware update:

  1. Go to the HP Support Page for the Envy 5070.
  2. Enter your printer model.
  3. Download and install the latest firmware update for your printer.
  4. If your printer is stuck on the error screen and doesn’t allow updates via HP Smart, you can try HP Print and Scan Doctor for diagnostics.

🔧 Step 4: Factory Reset (if accessible)

If the touchscreen is responsive:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings> Printer Maintenance or Printer Setup.
  2. Look for Restore Defaults or Reset option.
  3. Confirm and let the printer restart.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@lajis, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having a frustrating time with your HP Laserjet M140we printer. Let's try to troubleshoot this step-by-step:

Hard Reset the Printer

Do a full hardware reset:

  1. Disconnect USB cable from both printer and computer.
  2. Turn off the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  4. Wait 3–5 minutes.
  5. Reconnect everything and power it on.

Then try printing with USB only, no apps or HP Smart.

Fully Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers

On your PC:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Remove all instances of the M140 printer.
  3. Go to Device Manager > Print Queues, remove the device if listed.
  4. Now uninstall all HP software from Apps & Features.
  5. Restart your PC.

Then download the basic driver package here (not HP Smart): HP Support

Try HP Smart in USB Mode Only

  • Download and use HP Smart only after a clean reinstall.
  • Open HP Smart > click Add Printer> make sure to pick the USB version.
  • Avoid adding the printer over Wi-Fi for now.

Check Cartridge Compatibility

Make sure the new toner is:

  • Genuine HP.
  • Not expired or used in another printer (some toners are "locked" after being installed in a different printer).
  • Clean the chip/contact area gently with a microfiber cloth if needed.

Firmware Update (Optional but Suggested)

  • If your printer prints even once, immediately go to HP Smart > Printer Settings > Update Firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Toner error message

$

I’m experiencing an issue with my HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276nw printer after replacing the yellow toner cartridge. When I install a new OEM HP 131A Yellow (CF212A) cartridge, I receive the error message:

“Remove shipping lock from yellow cartridge.”

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

• Verified the cartridge is genuine OEM (one was purchased directly from HP.com, the other from OfficeMax).

• Removed all packaging materials and shipping locks.

• Compared the new cartridges to the original—no differences or missing parts noticed.

• Reinstalled all four toner cartridges.

• Power cycled and unplugged the printer.

• Swapped back in the original empty yellow cartridge—the error goes away, and the printer functions normally.

• Checked the chip and contact area on the new cartridge and inside the printer—everything looks clean and undamaged.

This leads me to believe the issue may be:

1. A firmware compatibility issue with updated cartridge designs, or

2. A batch defect with recent yellow 131A cartridges.

Can you please advise on next steps or provide support for resolving this issue? I can provide cartridge serial numbers, packaging photos, or any other info needed.

After installing Printer, I printed off some docs as a test. Shortly thereafter it would not print via Windows 11. I could print via iPhone or via HP Smart for reports. Troubleshot issues for hours trying this setting or that setting.  Then I reinstalled software from HP. It worked fine. First time I ever had to do that a day after installation. One note not related is setting up this printers paper trays. It is a bit more difficult than previous HP printers I have owned in the past.  Will see how long this lasts.  I once had an Officejet Pro printer last 10 years when XP was around. Not anymore. You are lucky if you get 4 years out of one. This one was a replacement for a 9025e that will not print 4x6 photos. Prints plain paper no issue. Will keep it until ink runs out. Thats it.

Re: I cannot a Supply memory error cleared

Hi @vclark12,

Thank you for the response.

The M227fdn does not use a separate imaging drum, it’s integrated with the toner cartridge. So replacing the "imaging drum" separately won’t apply here.

If you’re still seeing a “Supply Memory Error”, it’s most likely:

A faulty toner cartridge

Dirty or damaged cartridge chip or printer contacts

A non-HP or refilled toner cartridge that the printer doesn’t recognize

A firmware mismatch or glitch

Here’s What You Can Do:

Double-check cartridge:

Are you using a genuine HP 30A or 30X cartridge?

Check for the HP security label on the box or cartridge.

Try a new cartridge:

Borrow one from a friend or buy a new HP original to test.

Even if the current one is from HP, it could be defective.

Clean the contacts:

Turn off the printer, unplug it.

Remove the toner and gently wipe the gold contacts on the toner and inside the printer using a microfiber cloth.

Reset printer firmware:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

I hope this helps.
