@Dori15, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e is stuck in some sort of error state, with blinking lights and an unresponsive power button. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue. I'll also ask a few questions to get a better understanding of the situation:

  1. How many lights are blinking? Are they all blinking in unison, or is there a specific pattern (e.g., one light blinking faster than others)?
  2. Did the printer show any error messages on its screen or in the HP Smart app (if you use it)?
  3. Was there a recent change to your setup, such as new ink cartridges, a power surge, or a software update?
  4. Have you tried to print from a different device or checked your Wi-Fi connection (if wireless printing)?
  5. Is there any paper jam or obstruction inside the printer?

General Troubleshooting Steps:

Power Cycle (Hard Reset):

  • Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Plug it back in and try to turn the printer on again by pressing the power button.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer and check the paper path for any paper jams or debris.
  • If you see any jammed paper, gently remove it, making sure not to rip it.
  • Check both the input tray and the output tray for obstructions.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer’s ink compartment and make sure the cartridges are properly seated and not loose.
  • If the printer detects an issue with the cartridges, this could cause the lights to blink. Try reseating or replacing them if necessary.

Reset Printer to Factory Settings:

  • If the printer responds to touch or has a screen that’s still functional, you might be able to reset it to factory settings.
  • This can be done through the printer’s settings menu, or you may need to follow a specific button combination (check the user manual for detailed instructions).

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, firmware issues can cause printers to get stuck in error states. If your printer has a functioning display, check for any firmware updates via the settings menu.

HP Smart App (if applicable):

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device and check if there are any error messages or printer status updates.
  • The app may offer diagnostic tools that could help identify the issue.

Disconnect the Printer from Network:

  • If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, temporarily disconnect it from the network to see if it resolves the issue.
  • If the printer works after disconnecting, it might indicate a network-related issue.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Have been receiving this message and not able to print, although there is still ink in my printer.
All the research leads to the only solution: "subscribe and pay HP for the ink".

Dear HP,

Everything you're suggesting is to subscribe for the Instant Ink subscription.

This is not helpful at all. There is still ink in the printer and I would like to be able to use it, without applying for an additional service. It makes me wanna throw your product into the garbage for the way you are treating your clients.

Shame on you.

At least have the decency to say directly to your clients:

"There is no way to make the printer work, even with lots of ink remaining, without paying extra money for an unwanted subscription to your soulless company".
best regards
Alexander

Hi @MikeFori,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check for Obstructions or Jammed Paper

  • Open the printer door and ensure that no paper is jammed inside. Even a small piece of paper can trigger an error message like this.
  • Check the paper path and make sure that everything is clear. Also, check the output tray and surrounding areas for any possible blockages.

Verify the Ink Cartridge Area

  • Open the ink cartridge access door again. Make sure the cartridges are seated properly, and ensure nothing is obstructing the area (like small pieces of paper or packaging materials).
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges carefully, ensuring they snap into place securely.

Check the Door Sensors

  • The printer uses sensors to detect if the doors are fully closed. These sensors could be dirty or misaligned.
  • Use a soft cloth to clean the sensor area near the door, which may have accumulated dust or ink residue.
  • If you can spot any misalignment, gently adjust the sensor to ensure it is positioned correctly.

Inspect the Rear Door (if applicable)

  • Some printers have an additional rear door that may need to be securely closed.
  • Make sure that any rear access doors are also closed tightly.

Firmware Update

  • Sometimes, this error can be triggered by an outdated firmware version.
  • Check for updates on the HP website for the OfficeJet Pro 9018, and install any firmware updates if available.

Reset Printer Settings

  • Reset the printer to factory settings (this may vary by model, but it’s usually found in the printer's settings menu or control panel).
  • This can help clear any software-related errors that might be causing the "door open" warning.

Try a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 5-10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can sometimes clear out any lingering errors and reset the internal system.

Check the Printer's Control Panel

  • If you’re still getting the error, see if the control panel shows any additional error messages or guidance on what's causing the issue.
  • Sometimes the printer may provide more information (like if it detects an issue with the door latch or door sensor).

Test on a Different Computer

  • If possible, try printing from a different computer or device. This will help determine if the issue is printer-specific or computer-specific.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Thank you for this list of possible causes and how to address them.   It is great to see help beyond the typical "turn it off and on again" approach.  Much Appreciated!  We did just have the problem happen again, this time from my daughter's computer and printing to the photo tray, so the Fixed IP address hasn't solved the issue.  It will take me some time, but I will try to work through your suggestions and see what I can see.  I'll have to do this when I have a chunk of time to devote.  Again, thank you.  I'll update this thread once I've had time to investigate further.

Cyan not printing across the entire page

I have an HP CP 4525 laser jet  and am having an issue with the cyan drive - it is not printing across the entire page. I thought it was the cartridge and replaced it, but it still is not printing. I then switched the cyan and magenta and the magenta did the same thing the cyan was doing when it was in the cyan slot. I have run the cleaning system and diagnostic pages, I am just not sure what they mean...so, if anyone has any advice, I would so appreciate it!

Re: Cyan not printing across the entire page

Two possible causes:

1. The scanner lens for the cyan cartridge is blocked by dust or spilled toner. If you look at the glass lens on the bottom of the cyan cartridge slot that may answer the question.

2. An issue with the HVPS contacts for the cyan cartridge slot. these contacts carry the voltage that energizes the drum unit so that toner adheres to it to create the image.

Second computer alway showed out of paper

I just bought a HP printer OfficeJet Pro 9120e, after setting the printer from one computer, I was able to print without any troubles. Then, I tried to print from a laptop in the same network but it said the printer was out of paper. No problem printing from the first computer. I tried adding the HP Smart app but didn't fix the issue. After making a research I found the HP community where multiple persons report the same problem. One of the recommendations was to setup the printer as a the default printer which I did and that fix the issue. It seems the problem is with Microsoft trying to manage the printer which is avoided when the printer is set as the default printer. I didn't know how to add my experience to the existing ticket so I creating a new one.

By the way, the support page is quite difficult to manage. I couldn't select my product even that is in the profile. Not an good overall experience with my HP printer and HP support page.
