Irwin6,

Thanks for your reply.  However, it did not work for me.  I followed the steps you outlined but it did not make the slightest difference.  I have read several other accounts like this one where they received direct private messages with information or steps on how to fix this issue.  May I please receive the same courtesy?

If under warranty you need to go to support.hp.com and create a case. If out of warranty you would need to subscribe to HP Smart Friend Service.

Hi @KayAri,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

When your printer displays a message indicating there's a problem and flashing lights, along with instructions to turn it off and on, it can be indicative of a hardware or firmware issue. Here are some steps you can follow to try to resolve this issue:

  • Use the power button to turn off the printerr:
    • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.Leave the printer unplugged for about 60 seconds.:
    • Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the back of the printer.Turn the printer back on and check if the error message disappears.

2. Check for Paper Jams:

  • Carefully remove any paper jams you find. Make sure to pull the paper out in the direction of the paper path to avoid damaging the printer.

3. Reinstall the Ink/Toner Cartridges:

  • Access the ink/toner cartridge area.:Remove the ink/toner cartridges and reinsert them securely. Close all panels and turn the printer back on.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support page and search for your printer model.Download and install any available firmware updates.
  2. Follow Update Instructions:
    • Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the firmware.

5. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults:

    • Look for a "Restore Factory Defaults" or "Reset All Settings" option.Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to reboot.

6. Check for Hardware Issues:

7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download the tool from the HP Support page.Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve the issue.

8. Try a Different Power Source

  • Sometimes electrical issues can cause problems. Try plugging the printer into a different power outlet to see if that resolves the issue.

If none of these steps resolve the problem, it might indicate a more serious har

Exasperated. Printer will not connect to new router. How do you speak with someone at HP support?

I've spent 4 hours trying everything the support pages say to connect the printer to the new router.  Says it is connected and solid blue light is on, but when I try to print from computer, I get message that its offline.

Anyone know how to reach a HP support person and actually speak to them???

Printer prints reports but when printing anything else it acts like it does but prints a blank page

The printer will print reports generally with no issue, but when we send something to be printed (like you would usually), it acts like it's going to print, but when it is finished, it is blank paper. how can we fix this? I have tried using Wi-Fi and USB ( both times uninstalling and reinstalling the driver). I've tried using the HP smart app on multiple devices, using the HP smart app and not using it; on iPhones, using the Smart App, and on my Windows computers, I tried both options, including using USB. The Printer is online, and I can access it online; the USB is working only for reports. Now it does "print" when we ask it to, but it prints a blank page, and it's not like it just prints a blank page immediately. It acts like it's going to print, and you can hear the printing mechanism moving back and forth like it usually would. This has been happening for a while since the beginning of the year or longer. (I got fed up, so I am figuring this out now.)

Hi @YeOldePrinting,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to reset the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-In-One Printer and clear the admin password, you can perform a semi-full reset. Please follow these steps carefully:

Semi-Full Reset

  1. Power off the printer: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still on.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds: Allow the printer to fully power down.
  3. Reconnect the power cord: Plug the power cord back into the printer.
  4. Power on the printer: Turn the printer back on by pressing the power button if it does not turn on automatically.
  5. Access the support menu:
    • On the printer's control panel, touch the back button (located at the bottom left corner of the screen) four times in quick succession. This should bring up the support menu.
  6. Reset the printer:
    • In the support menu, scroll down and find the option labeled "Reset Menu" or similar.
    • Select "Semi-Full Reset." This will restore the printer to its factory default settings, including clearing the admin password.
  7. Reconfigure the printer: After the reset, you'll need to set up the printer again as if it were new, including reconnecting to your network and reconfiguring any settings.

Note

  • Performing a semi-full reset will erase all settings, including the admin password, network settings, and any saved fax numbers.
  • Make sure to reconfigure your printer after the reset to restore its functionality to your preferences.

Looking at the specs, this device supports older version 5Ghz and I have found that often will not connect correctly to new current series 5Ghz routers which use a newer protocol. They will connect but have issues fully communicating. The best option is to configure the router so that the 2.4Ghz channel has a unique SSID (network identifier) and then only allow the printer to connect to that SSID, not the 5Ghz one. It is a little work, but really the only solution. If your router came from your internet provider they should be able to assist you.

Hi @JMJM1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the E3 error on your HP DeskJet 2820e All-In-One Printer indicates a paper jam or a carriage jam. Since you've tried the troubleshooters and performed a system reset with no success, let's try a few additional steps to resolve the issue:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for E3 Error

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the front and rear access doors.
  • Carefully inspect for any paper jams or small pieces of paper that might be stuck.
  • Remove any visible paper or debris.
  • Use a flashlight to ensure there are no hidden pieces of paper.

Check the Carriage Path

  • Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door.
  • Ensure the carriage (the part that holds the ink cartridges) can move freely from side to side.
  • If it’s stuck, gently move it to the center and clear any obstructions you find.
  • Ensure there are no foreign objects obstructing the carriage path.

Clean the Rollers

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the rear access door and clean the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Ensure the rollers are free of dust and debris.
  • Allow the rollers to dry before closing the access door and turning the printer back on.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any packaging material or protective tape that might not have been removed.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges and ensure they are seated properly.

Reset the Printer Again

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Disconnect any connected cables (USB, Ethernet).
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes firmware updates can fix persistent error codes.
  • Ensure your printer is connected to the internet.
  • Go to the HP support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to update the firmware if an update is available.

Hi @Frankly-E ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing a recurring issue with your HP ENVY 6052e All-In-One Printer getting stuck during print jobs.

Here are several steps you can take to try to resolve this issue:

1. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can cause various issues, including print job errors.
  • You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

2. Clear Print Queue

  • Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause subsequent jobs to hang.
  • Clear the print queue on your computer:
    • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click your printer > See what's printing > Cancel All Documents.
    • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > select your printer > Open Print Queue > Cancel All Documents.

3. Reset the Printing System

  • Windows: Remove and re-add the printer.
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click your printer > Remove device. Then, add it back again.
  • Mac: Reset the printing system.
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > right-click (or Control-click) in the list of devices > Reset printing system. Then, add your printer again.

4. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or foreign objects inside the printer. Even small bits of paper can cause issues.

5. Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges

  • Non-HP or refilled ink cartridges can sometimes cause printing issues. Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges.

6. Check for Driver Updates

  • Make sure your printer driver is up to date. You can download the latest driver from the HP website.

7. Check Printer Settings

  • Ensure the print settings are correct for the type of job you are printing. Sometimes, incorrect settings can cause the printer to get stuck.

8. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

9. Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • If you are using the HP Smart app to print, uninstall and reinstall the app.

10. Print a Diagnostic Report

  • Print a diagnostic report to check for any issues that might not be immediately visible. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 6052e All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
