I have this exact same issue and did the exact same steps. For giggles I tried the HP Smart app too and none of that was helpful.

What is the solution to this?

Hi @Woody106,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Printing gibberish on an envelope can be caused by several issues such as incorrect printer settings, driver problems, or issues with the document formatting. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Settings

  • Correct Paper Size and Type: Make sure you have selected the correct paper size and type for the envelope in the printer settings.
    • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP Smart Tank 7602 and select "Printing preferences."
    • Set the correct paper size (e.g., Envelope #10) and type (e.g., Envelope).

2. Check Document Formatting

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Driver Update: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer.
    • Visit the HP Support Website and download the latest drivers for the HP Smart Tank 7602.
    • Install the updated drivers and restart your computer.

4. Check Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support Website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to update the printer firmware.

5. Check Printer Connection

  • Connection Issues: Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer, whether via USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.
    • If connected via Wi-Fi, ensure a stable network connection.

6. Print a Test Page

  • Test Page: Print a test page to check if the issue persists with other types of documents.
    • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer and select "Printer properties."
    • Click "Print Test Page."

7. Clear Print Queue

  • Clear Queue: Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause issues. Clear the print queue to ensure no corrupted jobs are affecting the printing process.
    • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Double-click on your printer and clear all pending print jobs.

8. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Follow the prompts to diagnose and resolve any issues found.

9. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

  • Factory Reset: Resetting the printer to its factory settings can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
    • Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on performing a factory reset.

10. Check for Operating System Updates.

  • Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart your computer.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Iowa,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP Officejet 8710 is showing an "error state" and won't print from your PC, despite successful scanning and other functions, it can be a frustrating issue. Here are some detailed steps to help you resolve this problem:

1. Check Printer Status and Connections

  • Printer Status: Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the same network as your PC if using a network connection.
  • Connections: Verify that all cables are securely connected if using a USB connection. For a wireless connection, ensure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart PC: Restart your computer to clear any temporary issues.

3. Clear Print Queue

  • Clear Queue: Clear any pending print jobs to ensure they are not causing a blockage.
    • Open Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP Officejet 8710 and select "See what's printing."
    • Right-click on each print job and select "Cancel."

4. Set as Default Printer

  • Default Printer: Ensure the HP Officejet 8710 is set as the default printer.
    • Open Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP Officejet 8710 and select "Set as default printer."

5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on the HP Officejet 8710 and select "Remove device."
  • Reinstall Drivers:
    • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer.
    • Install the drivers and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

6. Check for Windows Updates.

  • Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart your computer.

7. Run Printer Troubleshooter.

  • Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Troubleshoot -> Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select "Printer" and run the troubleshooter.

8. Check Printer Spooler Service.

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll down to "Print Spooler" and ensure it is set to "Running."
  • If not, right-click and select "Start." If it’s already running, right-click and select "Restart."

9. Firewall and Antivirus Settings.

  • Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software and try printing again.
  • If the printer works with the firewall/antivirus disabled, create an exception for the printer in your security software.

10. Factory Reset Printer.

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to "Settings" -> "Printer Maintenance" -> "Restore."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Re: The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer

Hi @ery231,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP 2775 printer shows an error message stating that the cartridges are not communicating correctly, even after replacing them with new original cartridges, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Proper Installation: Ensure the black cartridge is properly installed.
    • Open the printer cover and remove the black cartridge.
    • Reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place securely.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Cleaning Contacts: Sometimes, dirty contacts can prevent the printer from recognizing the cartridge.
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Remove the black cartridge.
    • Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
    • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Resetting Printer: A reset can sometimes resolve communication issues.
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

4. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Firmware Update: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date.
    • Go to the HP Support website and check for any available firmware updates for your HP 2775 printer.
    • Download and install any updates following the provided instructions.

5. Check Cartridge Authenticity

  • Genuine Cartridges: Ensure that the cartridges are genuine HP products. Counterfeit or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause communication issues.
    • Verify that the packaging and the cartridges have the HP logo and hologram.

6. Try Another Cartridge

  • Different Cartridge: Although you mentioned already trying a second new black cartridge, it’s worth trying a third one if possible, as the second one might also be faulty.

7. Printer Alignment

  • Align Printer: Sometimes, performing a printer alignment can resolve cartridge issues.
    • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the maintenance or setup menu.
    • Select "Align Printer" or "Print Head Alignment" and follow the on-screen instructions.

8. Check for Obstructions

  • Obstructions: Ensure there are no obstructions or debris in the cartridge slot that might be preventing proper contact.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

  • Paper Jams: Open the printer's access doors and check for any paper jams or foreign objects inside the printer. Remove any obstructions carefully.

3. Update Printer Firmware

  • Firmware Update: Check for any available firmware updates for your printer model on the HP support website. If updates are available, download and install them according to the provided instructions.

4. Reset the Printer

Re: HP LaserJet MFP M140we Check account error

Hey everybody,

I called 800 Hp support phonenumber and I paid the $19.95 fee to fix this issue.

Let me save you that money. It is a software issue. The issue is exactly what I thought but for different reasons. My printer ending in -we means its a digital printer that has to be added as HP+ (orange panel, display etc), not HP (blue panel display on HP smart). So when there is an issue with the printer, it sends a message to the motherhood page and because it wasnt connected to HP+ it couldnt fix it. The steps they made me do

1) reset your printer. Hold low arrow button with red X button at the same time with one hand, and with the other press once turn on. It will show NU.

2)Then go to your HP smart app, press for 2-3 seconds the logo of your printer and it will show an option to hide printer. then add new printer (normal steps of adding wifi and thats it).And then my HP smart display was orange and said HP+. I hope I didnt miss any step.

The customer service representative was a very nice guy, he gave me the option to send me by email the steps to solve the problem but I took the short way and paid for it so he could guide me.

What bothers me a bit about HP is that I find a very suspicious coincidence that my warranty expired 6 days ago and suddenly I had to redo my whole printer to add it to HP+ because at the beggining was not added correctly. I think HP changed their digital platform or did something and now these printers have to re-added to the correct motherhood platform. Not a fan of paying a fee for a software issue.

But it is solved.

good luck!

Andrea

Re: Do I have to install a color cartridge in order for my printer to work?

Hi @Tcraddock4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

In many inkjet printers, including some models from HP, it's common to require both the color and black ink cartridges to be installed and have ink for the printer to function properly, even if you're only printing in black. This is because some printers use a combination of both black and color inks to create the grayscale or black portions of your printouts.

If your printer is indicating that you're out of color ink and you've installed a new color cartridge but it's still not printing, there might be a few issues at play:

  • Cartridge Installation: Double-check that the color cartridge is properly installed in the correct slot. It's possible that it's not making proper contact with the printer.
  • Cartridge Authenticity: Ensure that the new color cartridge is genuine and compatible with your printer model. Some printers may not recognize or accept third-party cartridges.
  • Printer Settings: Check your printer settings to ensure that it's set to use both color and black ink for printing. This setting is usually found in the printer preferences or properties menu on your computer.
  • Printer Error: The blinking orange light could indicate an error condition. Check your printer's user manual or the HP website for information on what the blinking light means for your specific model.
  • Printer Maintenance: Perform any recommended printer maintenance tasks, such as print head cleaning or alignment, to ensure that the printer is functioning properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Re: is HP OfficeJetPro 8600 supported by Windows 11? Text no longer prints on Microsoft office do...

Thanks for the input but this was never a hardware problem as the printer would printer random web pages & after cleaning print heads the resulting test page was clear and crisp.  I ended up working with a tech from Geek Squad who determined software was the problem.  The final solution was uninstalled printer & installing 2 updates, one from HP- probably the same as in your link & one from Microsoft.  I don't know which Window 11 update it was as whenever I tried to do a Windows update the system assured me all was current.  Once that was done & the system restarted the printer was working perfectly.  I still suspect it was the Windows 11 update that was the culprit since Office Docs & spreadsheets wouldn't print text but as mentioned earlier I could print some web pages so very weird.  I do really appreciate the feedback though.  I have had HP products for years and am generally happy with them.

QuickBooks Template Not Printing Correctly

Hello HP Community,

I'm reaching out because I'm experiencing difficulties printing QuickBooks invoices correctly on my HP LaserJet Pro M404dw. Whenever I try to print invoices generated from QuickBooks, the formatting appears to be off, and important details such as company logo, text alignment, and footer information are not displaying as they should.

I have ensured that my printer drivers are up to date and that all software updates for both QuickBooks and my HP printer have been installed. Despite these efforts, the problem persists.

I've also tried adjusting the print settings within QuickBooks, such as paper size, orientation, and scaling options, but none of these adjustments seem to resolve the issue.

Could someone from the community provide guidance on how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue? It's crucial for my business to be able to print accurate and professional-looking invoices directly from QuickBooks using my HP printer.

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hi @Shannonalmas ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-In-One Printer is stuck in copy mode, there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

Cancel the Copy Job:

  • If there is a current copy job that is stuck, try to cancel it by pressing the "Cancel" button on the printer control panel.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about a minute before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any paper that might be causing the issue.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes a hard reset can resolve the issue. To do this, unplug the printer while it is on, wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Software and Firmware Troubleshooting

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure the printer firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

HP Smart App:

  • Use the HP Smart app to manage your printer. Sometimes, using the app to reset or troubleshoot the printer can help resolve the issue.

Factory Reset:

  • Perform a factory reset on your printer. Note that this will reset all settings to default, so you'll need to reconfigure your printer settings afterward. To do this:
    • On the printer control panel, go to "Setup" (gear icon).
    • Navigate to "Printer Maintenance" or "Tools."
    • Select "Restore Factory Defaults" or "Reset."

Advanced Troubleshooting

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure there are no pending print jobs in the print queue on your computer that might be causing the printer to stay in copy mode. Clear any stuck print jobs.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer User manual
