Fix Black Screen For Color Laserjet Pro MFP M283fdw

$

Hello,

My Hp Color laserjet MFP M283fdw is on But the screen is black and appears to be off and possibly broken when the printer is on.  I have turn the printer on and off several times as well as plugged and unplugged it from the wall outlet.  The screen does not react and appears to be off when I touch it.

Neither my phone app or laptop can find the printer when the printer is on.   When powering on and off, the printer screen stays dark.

The printer sounds like it makes normal noises when it is turned on or off or if the paper tray is opened and closed.

Any help to fix the problem would be welcome.

Thank you.

Hello @Echo_Lake

Thank you for your reply. I followed your comment on updating the latest printer firmware from my PC and that seems to have done the job. Its a little disappointing that I had to first update the firmware on my brand new printer prior to it working correctly but never the less this has worked and the annoying idle noise is gone.

Thanks again for your help,

Hi @SKORFACTORY,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving a "C4EB847E" error on the printer screen.

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

Hello,

Are you registered for the HP Instant Ink service?

I ask you this question because the reset procedure I can provide conflicts with the HP Instant Ink service.

In the first instance, please follow the instructions in the HP document: 'Printer Failure' Error.

In some cases, remove the ink cartridges and reset the printer can solve the error.

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Before continuing, wait until the printer is idle and silent.
  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
  4. Remove the ink cartridges of the printer.
  5. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  6. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  7. Plug the power cord into the outlet.
NOTE:  HP then recommends reconnecting the printer's power cord directly into a wall outlet.
  8. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
  9. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically make it.
It is possible that the printer goes through a warm-up cycle. It is also possible that the printer lights blink and the carriage moves.
  10. Wait until the preheat cycle and until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.
  11. Reinsert the ink cartridge, and then close the access door to the cartridges.
  12. Print a calibration page, if prompted.
  13. If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the back of the product.
  14. Try to print.

Then, please update the printer's firmware: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-6970-all-in-one-printer-series/8289585.

Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Check the ink levels, clean the printhead and print test page to check the result.
