A couple of other things I should have mentioned about the scrub:
Step 25. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders. One folder I couldn't deleted because the system said it was open in another program. It was the folder called "HP Software Updte". I had no other programs running. The printer might have been on - not sure of that.
Question: when deleting all instances of HP in the registry, I saw a LONG list. I only deleted those files that HP in caps in front of them, not hp lower case. Should I delete all files that have HP as the first two characters whether they are upper or lower case?
Two examples: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\hpowiav1.MiniDrv.1 and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HPDeviceDetection2.DeviceCollection.1
And what is a Key? Sorry, but everything I've ever read about the regisitry, is that if you don't know what to do in it, stay out. I stay out.
