I've received no response so I guess it's a lost cause. I found a lenghty discussion elsewhere of the same problem. Since just replacing the three color cartridges will cost more than I paid for the printer plus cost to repair it and no assurance that the problem won't recur. I thought the printer was a great buy when I bought it but evidently not if it fails after 2 years of light use. Apparently the cost-effective solution is to junk the printer and buy something else.
