@bobbiker, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP 7855 not starting!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP 7855 printer is stuck in a boot loop, likely due to the power outage. This can happen if the printer's internal memory or firmware gets disrupted. Here’s a simple step-by-step fix that often works:

Try a Hard Reset:

  1. Unplug the printer– Disconnect it completely from power.
  2. Remove all cables– If there’s a USB or Ethernet cable connected, unplug those too.
  3. Wait at least 2-3 minutes– This allows any residual power to drain.
  4. Press and hold the power button– While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds. This helps reset internal components.
  5. Plug the printer back in– Use a direct wall outlet (avoid surge protectors for now).
  6. Turn it on– If it starts normally, great!

If It’s Still Stuck:

  • Try a key combination reset: Press and hold the power button and cancel button (X) together for about 10-15 seconds before turning it back on.
  • Check for a firmware update– If it boots up, go to HP’s website and update the printer’s firmware to prevent future issues.
  • Factory Reset (as a last resort)– If the printer starts but acts glitchy, you can reset it from the settings menu.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
