Re: How to load and print envelopes on a officejet 5252

I have tried Office, Microsoft Word, and Word Perfect.  Here is the message I keep receiving : " The paper size detected by the printer does not match the paper size selected for the print job. Make sure the paper size is correct to continue the job. "  I must have changed the settings manually 100's of times in the last 2 days while trying to correct this issue to no avail.  Changed settings on printer ( also re-installed printer), and changed settings on printing programs.  I am using Windows 10, 64 bit,  Just had to replaced an older HP printer that worked fine with any/all of my programs.  Thinking seriously about returning this printer and going to a different brand.  Frustrating to say the least. Any help appreciated.

Re: How to Use Less Ink - B&W or Grayscale?

No, using grayscale or black ink only feature you will be consuming the more black ink and lesser color ink.

To reduce ink consumption set the print quality mode to draft.

  1. Open the document or photo on your computer, click File or the menu icon , then click Print.

Print or Print Pictures window or pane opens with general print job settings, including the menu to select the printer you want to print to.

  2. Open Document Properties or Printing Preferences from the main print window or pane to access the HP print driver settings. The button or link name varies depending on the app you are printing from.

  3. To view the different settings, click the tabs along the top of the window. To access more settings, click the Advanced button that is often located on the Layout tab.

  4. on the Paper/Quality tab, change the mode to draft

Thank you for your response.  Is it possible to perform a firmware update when I can't connect wirelessly to the printer because of this issue?   Also, I don't see a firmware update available on the HP site.  Can you please send me the link?  I have tried all the other recommended steps several times to no avail.  Again, thank you.

Hi ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Printing blank pages" issue.

To better assist you -

1)Are you able to make copies using the printer?

2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or device?

While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page -

  1. Load U.S. letter or A4 size, unused, plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

    The Setup menu displays.

  3. Touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.

A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.

Post the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so we can help you further.

Hi Cruby83,

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the " Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly" issue.

Let's try a power reset on the printer-

Reset the product

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Try steps4-7 in the document Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Power up*" issue.

If the printer uses an internal power supply, make sure the power module, power cord, and wall outlet are working correctly.

Step 1: Reset the power module and test the wall outlet

Unplug the printer to reset the internal power module, plug another appliance into the wall outlet to test the power, and then reconnect the printer.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.

  3. While the printer is unplugged, plug another appliance into the wall outlet, and then turn it on to make sure the outlet works.

    • If the wall outlet does not work, plug the printer into an outlet that does work. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.

    • If the wall outlet works, continue with these steps.

  4. After the printer has been disconnected for at least 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  5. Plug the power cord directly into the wall outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.

  6. Check the rear of the printer and the ink cartridge access area to see if the internal power module has an indicator light.

    • If the internal power module has a light, the light is on, and the printer turns on, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the internal power module has a light and the light is on, but the printer still does not turn on, continue to the next step.

    • If the internal power module has a light and the light is off, skip to the step to Test the power with another compatible power cord.

    • If the internal power module does not have a light, continue to the next step.

Internal power module indicator light on the rear of the printer:

    1. Screw

    2. Indicator light

Internal power module indicator light in the ink cartridge access area:

    1. Indicator light

Internal power module without an indicator light:

Example of an internal power module without an indicator light

Step 2: Test the printer Power button

Plug the printer into a working wall outlet, and then test the Power button on the printer.

  1. Make sure the power cord is connected to the rear of the printer and is plugged directly into a wall outlet.

  2. Press and release the Power button to start a Power On/Off cycle. Do not hold the button down.

    NOTE:

If you press and hold the Power button too long, the printer might turn on and then off without restarting. If this happens, press and quickly release the Power button again.

  3. If the printer does not turn on, wait 10 seconds, and then press the Power button again.

If the power indicator remains off, continue to the next step.

Step 3: Test the power with another compatible power cord

If you own a similar power cord try using the printer with that power cord.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Betty:

Thanks for your reply.  I've copied it and will give your suggestions a try.  HP support also suggested using Edge or Internet Explorer rather than Firefox as my provider.  I'm going to start with the simplest suggestion first, since I'm the type who has to call tech support to change a light bulb.

Good evening Jay_G24:

My HP 7410 has a external power module. The DC output is measured 32V.

Unplugged and plugged many times, the small display turns on every time but only shows HP invent with progress bar then repeat itself every couple of minutes.

Inside the machine, there was no movement, no sound at all.

I believed, the electronics not working (control pcb etc.) but no procedure to open it.

If anyone knows how and can share, it will be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your reply.

Re: Your first suggestion: There is no option when I give the PRINT command. If I am printing a photo the printer  automatically tries to grab paper from the photo tray (but there is none there because I want to print on regular paper).

Your second suggestion (changing the settings): You have not told me WHERE to find these setting options. I have already looked under in the Manage your device Area for the printer (on my desktop) and I do not see any options that are like those you are referring to.

Please advise. Thank you.

light blue - white

magenta - ok

yellow - ok

dark blue - orange stripe

green - yellow stripe

orange - ok

I will be purchadsing  more color cartridges

I got you covered, here's a set of steps, though it looks long and scary, it will help resolve the issue, so please go through it, one step at a time, you'll be fine:

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.

If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:

If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.

   NOTE:

Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.

See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.
