The devices that are light used fail sooner than the one that is well used and overused.

Your low page count in 3 years could be one of the printheads fail reasons if you have been printing for 1300 pages monthly your page count would be closer to 50k pages. The one with 70 602 pages you mentioned was used every day if it was used for 3 years that makes close to 2000 pages monthly and it's still working.


HP Ink Tank Printer Issues

I have posted before and Kumar0307 offered HP Support Community. The issue is that my HP Pavilion always sees my HP Ink Tank printer as off line while all my Apple products has no such issues. I have done the removing and re-installing the printer and the drivers and no luck. I found that when using the USB cable, it works. It was suggested by Kumar0307 that I install using the IP address rather, but no luck. I think the printer or the PC interface is the issue. At this stage I thank those that tried, but as the Great Steve Jobs said "End to end control", Windows is just too temperamental and HP is too closely married to Windows, so its a married made in hacker heaven, or better known as hell. I will stick with the USB interface even though it feels like the old days of DOS 3.3.

Thank you so much for this detailed solution! I'll try it the next time this problem occurs, as it sounds like a winner.

What happened this time was that I printed ~30 times until it started to fill in missing spots.

No error message. Printer status confirmed as good. Plenty of ink showing in estimate

I can see your logic there but the colour is printing ok. I’ve done all the troubleshooting that’s advised including cleaning the print heads.

The chemistry of black ink is different than the one in clours.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately that didnt work.

 

I did manage to get it going however, using a Vista x64 driver did the trick for me, so its now back online.

HP Envy 6230 B/W printouts poor quality and with horizontal streaks but NOT when photocopying

Recently I have been having issues with my HP Envy 6230 Printer. Ink is not low (at least half full) and when I print out in B/W from PC the printouts are faded, horizontal lines show on areas of the page and some elements of the printout are so faded/partially printed they almost entirely invisible (e.g. a logo at top of page). Initially I had this issue only when printing from the web browser, but since then even when printing a PDF direct from Adobe PDF Reader it also does it. Interestingly a direct photocopy using the flatbed scanner prints out absolutely fine.

 

I have done cartridge deep cleans including Level 3. No help whatsoever.

 

Anyone else experienced this and know what the problem is?

This happened to me with some elements missing from pages at work. I tried opening and printing from a different program - e.g. if you are using Google Chrome to open the PDF, try using Adobe Acrobat Reader instead. Or, vice-versa. I circumvented the problem doing this, even if it isn't an actual fix.
