Envy shuts off in middle of print job

$

Doing my first big print job.  Every few pages the printer turns off.  I get a blue screen with a symbol of the power button in it.  Under the power button icon are the numbers 6201922A.   Then all the lights start flashing.  I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to restart.  It's plugged into the wall and has all updates it could have.  My internet speeds are not the issue.  It sits about 4 feet away from my router and modem.  Needless to say I'm losing a lot of time with this error.  Help please.

not sure you answered the question. looks like the user was guessing that it was a hardware issue. Is this definite ? I'm having same problem. Is there a way to move the printhead to the middle if it doesn't move automatically.

Perform a hard reset on the printer-

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Re: HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Ink System Failure

Hi Sandytechy20,

I have just experienced this issue. It occurred shortly after replacing the black cartridge with an OEM XL black cartridge. On the printer when I check ink volumes the black one does not display anything and it is new.

Is it possible that the HP cartridge is bad?

Thank you,

Richard

Re: facing problem in copying

Welcome to HP Community!

I suggest you follow the below steps to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Change copy settings

Adjust color, contrast, and enhancement settings from the printer control panel menu to improve copy quality.

NOTE:

For printers without a control panel menu, most models use default normal copy settings that cannot be changed. As a workaround, scan the original into the computer, and then use the editing tools in the HP scanning software to improve the image quality. You can then print multiple copies of the edited scan file.

  1. Touch Copy, Copy Document, or Copy Photo on the printer control panel, and then select any available basic settings that apply to your copy job.

  2. Touch Settings or the gear icon  to open the copy job options. You might need to scroll down the control panel screen to access all settings.

    • Paper Type: Select the type of plain or photo paper for your copies.

    • Quality: Select an available copy quality level.

    • Lighter/Darker or Contrast: If the original is faded or too saturated, make the copy lighter or darker.

    • Optimize or Enhancements: Select the type of item you are copying to improve quality, such as sharpening text and image edges or improving faded colors in photos.

    • HP Copy Fix: Automatic copy quality and skew adjustment tool.

    • Save Current Settings or Set as New Defaults: Retains the selected settings for future copy jobs.

  3. Depending on the printer, touch Start, or return to the main Copy screen by touching Back, and then touch Start Black, Start Color, or OK to start the copy job.

Step 2: Reset the printer and check the power source

Reset the printer to clear certain error states, and then check the power source to make sure the printer is getting enough power to operate the copier.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer, disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.

  2. If you are using a power strip or multi-plug adapter, connect the cord directly to a wall outlet to make sure the printer is getting enough power.

  3. Reconnect the power cord to the printer, and then try making a copy.

    • If the issue persists, connect the printer to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.

    • If the issue persists using a different wall outlet, continue to the next step.

Step 3: Troubleshoot ink or toner cartridge issues: Click here & skip to step 7 to check the print quality report

, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Align the printer

  1. Load the input tray with plain white paper.

  2. Pull out the output tray, and then lift the output tray extender.

Pulling out the output tray and lifting the output tray extender

  3. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  4. Touch Tools.

  5. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Align Printer.

    An alignment page prints.

  6. Wait for the alignment page to fully eject from the printer.

  7. After the alignment page prints, lift the scanner lid, place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass. Position it according to the engraved guides around the glass.

Placing the alignment page on the scanner glass

  8. Close the scanner lid, and then touch OK.

The printer aligns the ink cartridges.

  9. After the printer aligns the ink cartridges, touch OK on the control panel.

  10. Try to print again.

Let me know how this goes.

I wanted to provide some additional info I just discovered.

1. The HP Printer Assistant shows ink levels for all colors including black as nearly full. Printer is not showing black ink at all.

2. Model Name Officejet Pro 8600 N911g

3. Firmware version CKP1CN1545AR  - checking HP shows no new updates.

4. Ser CN3ALEVH7X05KD    Service ID 24002     IK Number 937

5. SW Version 028.000.1315.000

6. Printer Driver Version 09.84.00.1173

7. Directly connected to computer via OEM printer cable.

8. HP Cartridge Protection is Disabled.

Hope this is helpful.

I have the Photosmart 6510 and I just replaced the color cartridges after they ran out. The black ink was still full. After replacing the three color cartridges, the following message appeared: “ The following ink cartridges must be replaced” and it shows all four cartridges. I’ve tried resetting the power outlet and putting them back in, but it’s stuck on the screen! Please help!!

Thanks so much!!  The only way I could get that to work was to find a cable to connect my printer to my laptop.  That allowed the updates to run.  Prior to that, my laptop could not connect to the printer.  Thanks for the help!

I understand you have issues printing from your Windows PC to the printer. Try the steps below-

Hard reset the printer-

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

Also, the screenshot you shared is not very clear. Could you just type in the error message on the screen for further assistance?
