Thanks for the reply.

I tried the method proposed.  It did not solve the problem.

If I push the button  next to the power button, I hear the carriage move back and forth. When I open the cover,  the carriage is stuck left.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Make sure the Wi-Fi Direct is on: On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button ( ) and the Resume button ( ) together for three seconds.

You can press the Information button ( ) and the Resume button ( ) together to print the Wi-Fi Direct guide.

If the issue persists, let's restore the Printer's network settings: Press and hold the Wireless button ( ) and the Cancel button ( ) from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

Once done, connect the Printer to the Wi-Fi.

Let me know if this helps.

, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Some Gmail security options may block the printer from connecting to their servers.

Check if you are logged on to the same account as you are setting for the printer by clicking on this link:
https://myaccount.google.com/

In the Sign-in & security section click on Signing in to Google and ensure that "2-Step Verification" is set as "Off".

In the left pane click on Connected apps & sites and ensure that "Access for less secure apps" is set as "ON", otherwise the verification will fail.

Make sure to use smtp.gmail.com with SSL Checked and port 465.

Run a test for the outgoing user profile and check if the problem is resolved.

My printer is printing blank pages

I have a HP Photosmart 6520 and I just changed the black ink cartridge to a 564 XL. Now when I try to print, all that comes out are blank pages. I have already checked the estimated ink levels, and my printer recognizes the new cartridge is full. When I try printing the "printer status report", "printer quality report" blank pages come out. I have also tried "clean printhead", and "align printer" and then tried printing, and blank pages come out again. What am I supposed to do now to fix it?

, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

What model printer are you using?

How is the printer connected to the PC?

For now, let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Restart the network devices

  1. Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer/ mobile devices.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.
  4. Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.

Turn on the computer/ mobile devices

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Re: Black and White Ink not working on HP Envy 4520

Hi,

This happens with black photocopies as well.

Even when I scan in a document that is black and white or in color it still prints in yellow/orange.

I am printing from the HP smart app on my mac.

I tried updating my printer firmware but it won't access the server to check for updates. Could this possibly be because I live on campus with a public server?

Thank you.

Welcome to HP support community.

Clean the electrical contacts

  1. Gather the following materials:

    • Dry foam-rubber swabs or lint-free cloth (eyeglass wipes or coffee filters work well)

    • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the ink cartridges)

         CAUTION:

Do not use platen cleaners or alcohol to clean the ink cartridge contacts. These can damage the ink cartridge or the printer.

  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.

Image: Open the ink cartridge access door

Holding the ink cartridge by its sides.

  7. Dip a clean foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth into distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from it.

  8. Clean only the copper-colored contacts, and then allow the ink cartridge to dry for approximately 10 minutes.

    Clean the contacts

  9. Lightly moisten another foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from the swab or cloth.

  10. Use the swab or cloth to clean the electrical contacts in the carriage, located inside the printer.

    The carriage contacts

  11. Either let the ink cartridge sit for 10 minutes to allow the cleaned area to dry, or use a new swab or cloth to dry it.

    NOTE:

Make sure the ink cartridge is not left out of the printer for more than 30 minutes.

  12. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the contacts toward the printer, insert the ink cartridge into its slot, and then gently push the ink cartridge until it snaps into place.

Snapping the ink cartridge into place

  13. Repeat these steps to clean and reinsert the other ink cartridge.

  14. Close the ink cartridge access door.

  15. Reconnect the power cord and any Ethernet or USB cables, unless your printer is connected to a wireless network.

  16. Turn on the printer, if it does not turn on automatically.

Welcome to HP Community!

NOTE:

Paper jams can be real or false. The printer might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. The following steps apply to both real and false paper jams.

Step 1: Clear jammed paper from the printer

Paper jams can occur in multiple areas of the printer. If you cannot find the paper jam in one area, continue to the next area until the jam is located.

You need a flashlight to complete some of these steps.

If you've already done, the above and yet the issue persists, this could be a hardware malfunction.
