I am not sure but i once had a problem where the generic cartridge had a slightly different shape as the originals.I remember spacing the cartridges with pieces of folded paper to do the fault finding.Inspect the shape of the cartridges and  where they make contact and try just to eliminate the generic ink.

Hope this helps.

Response to reply to: HP Reward scam for using OEM ink.

I have read the response to my question about the HP Rewards program for my using an OEM replacement cartridge.  It seems that the writer has completely missed the point of my post.  May I also ask if the image that you put beside my name is in some way representative of your impression of me?

It is important to note that I did not seek or attempt to access the reward of my own volition.  It came to me in the form of a pop up, from HP, after I installed the new ink cartridge.

According to contract law there are three parts to an agreement.  Offer, acceptance and consideration.  HP sent me an offer that I accepted and the consideration was the money that I had already paid for the cartridge.

My annoyance is that I wasted half an hour of my time trying to make it work then making my original post after seeing that so many other people had experienced the same issue.  I note that the response is not from HP nor is it in any way an apology for this act.

In my opinion, an appropriate response for the act of sending me (unsolicited) and request to apply for a reward that did not exist would be first an apology then a free ink cartridge as a demonstration of 'goodwill'.

Re: HP8100 duplexer - minimum paper size

According to this User Guide manual for the OfficeJet Pro 8100 printer, only the larger paper sizes are supported by the duplex unit:

Capture.PNG

The extract above only shows that part of the table which includes 'ticks' in the 'duplexer' column.

The shortest of the sizes shown in the extract is 257 mm (10.12").

I assume that the automatic duplex limitations are associated with the physical distance between various sets of rollers in the paper path.

Hi ,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are getting an error code 0XC9C70000, HW_GAUSS_CHIP on your HP OfficeJet 6956 All-in-One Printer.

This could be a hardware issue with the unit.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: '0xc19a0005' Error or Similar Error Displays

If the issue still persists, you may contact HP Technical Phone Support from this link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP

HP 9800 printer rear feed protocol

$

I have an HP 9800 that I've always had trouble getting the rear feed to work, the manual says to go to Print, set to Manual Feed, put the paper in the rear feed slot and then hit Print - but it doesn't work. The 'feed thru' arrow light on the front panel will be flashing and pushing it will make my paper in the rear feed slot go thru unprinted and then it will pick up a  paper from the regular tray and print on that. The only way I've been able to use the rear feed - that I need for special papers - is to have a scrap piece in the rear after the set up, hit print and let it shoot thru while I have my specialty paper ready to put into the rear slot when the scrap comes out the front and then it will print on it, but often the start point isn't where it should be.

Interestingly, in the User Guide where it describes the procedure, it shows the power cord UNPLUGGED for the printer from the wall while paper is being inserted, but never mentions unplugging it in the procedure. Is it suppose to be unplugged when paper is inserted? Why have it intentionally unplugged in the diagram but not include it in the explanation?

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to print to your HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer from your computer but the copy works fine.

This issue could occur if the drivers are not installed properly.

Let's go through a few steps to uninstall and reinstall the drivers:

Step 1: Uninstall the Drivers:

Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link: Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)

Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.

Steps to remove printer driver files from Print Server Properties:

1. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing any one of the following:

(a). Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.

(b) From the Start menu or the Start screen and open Devices and Printers. Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window. Click on the Drivers tab.

2. Select the printer driver you wish to uninstall.

3. Click the Remove button.

4. Select "Remove driver and driver package" and click OK.

Step 2: Download and install the Drivers from the link: Full Feature Software and Drivers

Let me know how this works.

Printer Printing Half Pages or Blank Pages

$

I am having issues print pages. I can print in color but my black ink prints part of a page occasionally and then nothing at all. I am part of the instant ink. The pages are counting towards my total of the month but all I get is a title (color) and maybe a bit here and there from the main part of the page or nothing at all.

I have tried the troubleshooting. I have turned off, unplugged, restarted the printer. I have restarted the computer. I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled. The ink was sent to me only a week or so ago and I did print a few days after I recieved it a few pages no problem. I have taken the ink cartridge out to see if it was blocked but nothing.

The printer is new (bought it maybe 2 months ago). I also don't know how to rectify the pages printed counting against me. I have kept them all to show I am getting only parts printed here and there.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi ,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing issues with your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer wherein you get an error message "There is a problem with the printer. Turn the Off, the On."

This could be a hardware issue with the unit.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

I suggest that you follow the step by step guide listed below to reset the printer:

1.Disconnect if there is any fax or USB cable connected to the unit and then turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

2.With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

3.Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

4.Wait at least 60 seconds.

5.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

6.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

7.Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period.
8.Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue persists, you may update the firmware from the link: Firmware Update

If the issue still persists, then I suggest that you contact HP Technical Phone Support from this link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP
Select the country where you are located and type the product# or the serial number of the unit and then choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information. Re: Replacing display screen - it is now unreadable

The printer is fine as is the scanner - they work great.  It's the screen that has failed and now unreadable.  I have been trying to get in touch with someone at HP to see if I can just buy a part or if there is a driver that can be installed but I can't get through to customer support without purchasing a service contract which is almost as expensive as a new printer.  Any idea's how I can find out if the screen is replaceable?  And if so, how?  Many thanks.  dca
