Complete Setup Using HP Smart App (Important)
Make sure you’re using the HP Smart app (available for Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android) to complete the entire setup. The QR code shown on the printer is meant to guide you to this app.
- If you already have the HP Smart app installed, open it.
- If not, you can download it from: https://www.hp.com/go/hpsmart
- Add the printer again in the app, and follow the guided steps fully, including alignment.
If the printer screen reverts to the QR code during alignment, try this:
- Cancel the alignment from the app (if possible), or restart the printer and repeat the process.
- Make sure you have plain A4 or Letter paper in the tray.
- Allow the printer to finish printing and scanning the alignment page—this step must complete to finish setup.
Once the setup is complete (or if the printer becomes accessible in HP Smart), you can check the firmware version like this:
Option 1: Through HP Smart App
- Open HP Smart and select your printer.
- Go to Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
- Navigate to Printer Information or About section—this will list the firmware version.
Option 2: From the Embedded Web Server (if accessible)
- Find your printer’s IP address (shown on the printer or in HP Smart).
- Open a web browser and enter the IP address in the address bar.
