how to resolve error code 59.00.01 in HP M855 printer

Printing errors on HP LaserJet MFP M140w

$

Hello all,

I've been having errors printing over WiFi using the HP LaserJet MFP M140w. While simpler documents (simple letters, etc.) can be printed without any issues, trying to print a more complex document such as a PDF forms with barcodes, intricate watermarks, etc. does not seem to work.

I have already tried unplugging the printer from the power source, printing using my mobile phone, running diagnostics (which returns no errors) and printing using HP Smart. Reconnecting to the wifi does not solve the issue.

The test print always seems to work and complex documents are printed less than halfway, with the printer constantly trying to and failing to print the pages. No images can be printed either. Any help would be great!

Hi all, having issues with HP ENVY 5532 lately. After printing one page, the screen on printer pops an error message stating paper too short (though always using A4 size) and then paper gets jammed. This issue has started recently. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Request refund of pages printed without consent

I left my computer printing a 51-page document. It was going backwards and on page 5 when I left it, so nearly done. Unfortunately, when I returned, it appeared to have re-started the print job several times from the end, so I had something like pages 51-3 printed again, 51-47 and yet another repeat of 51 starting to print when I tried to cancel the job.

Unfortunately, this means I was billed for a huge amount of unwanted pages which I had not commanded to print. I only sent ONE copy of the document to print, not multiple copies.

As this was an error by the printer, I would like a refund of the excess pages printed in my Instant Ink account. No support is available according to the website, so I'm having to post publicly.

Please refund without any diversionary questions such as did I try this or that. I am a software professional with 7 years of experience and I know what I am doing. Failure to refund will be met with a CREDIT CARD DISPUTE.

Hi @barbara203

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That error message can be frustrating, especially since you've never had trouble replacing cartridges before.

Let's go through some structured troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve it before considering a repair.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

2. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Remove all ink cartridges.
  • Inspect them for any damage or leaks.
  • Ensure they are genuine HP cartridges (HP's Dynamic Security can sometimes block third-party cartridges).
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly and ensure they click into place.

3. Clean the Printhead

  • Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
  • Remove the printhead carefully.
  • Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts.
  • Let it dry for a few minutes before reinserting.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit HP’s official support page for your printer model here.
  • Download and install the latest firmware update.
  • Restart the printer after updating.

5. Run a Printer Diagnostic

  • On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Setup > Tools > Printer Status Report.
  • If errors persist, try Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.

6. Perform a Semi-Full Reset (Advanced)

  • Press and hold # and 3 while turning the printer on.
  • If the issue persists, try # and 6 instead.

Let me know how it goes! If you need more details on any step, I’m happy to refine the instructions further.

Hi @Grace1441

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

An E0 error on an HP printer indicates a problem with the ink cartridges, typically that they are unusable, faulty, or incompatible. This could be due to incorrect installation, damage, or communication issues.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Reseat the Cartridges:
Open the printer, remove the ink cartridges, and then reinstall them, making sure they are properly seated.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts:
Use a slightly damp (not wet) cloth or cotton swab to clean the gold contacts on the ink cartridges and the corresponding area in the printer carriage.

3. Power Drain:
Unplug the printer, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in and power it on. This can help reset any communication issues, according to one post.

4. Check for Compatibility:
Ensure you are using the correct ink cartridges for your specific HP printer model.

5. Replace Cartridges:
If the issue persists, replace the ink cartridges with new, genuine HP cartridges.

@jmjones46, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Screen Light Stays On After Print Job!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The issue you're encountering with your HP Officejet 5740 printer, where the screen light remains on after completing a print job, may be due to settings or firmware changes that have occurred. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Access the printer's control panel.
  • Look for settings related to power management or display settings.
  • Ensure that the setting for the display or screen timeout is set appropriately to turn off after a period of inactivity.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer model.
  • Visit the HP Support website and enter your printer model to find and download any available firmware updates.

Restart Printer:

  • Power off the printer by unplugging it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This may reset any temporary errors causing the display to stay on.

Factory Reset:

  • If the issue persists, you can perform a factory reset on the printer.
  • Refer to the user manual or HP support for detailed instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

@Nitlerom, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Your Batteries Carefully

The E337 uses 2 AA batteries, but here's what to be aware of:

Use brand-new high-quality batteries — try alkaline or lithium AAs, not old ones.

Some cameras won’t power on with NiMH rechargeable batteries unless they’re fully charged.

Double-check battery orientation — the springs typically indicate the negative (-) terminal.

Clean the Battery Contacts

Over time, battery terminals corrode or collect dust:

Open the battery compartment.

Look at the metal contacts inside — are they dirty or dull?

Gently rub them with a pencil eraser or Q-tip with isopropyl alcohol.

Let dry fully before inserting batteries.

Hard Reset the Camera (if possible)

Sometimes older cameras need a reset if they're unresponsive.

Remove the batteries and the SD card (if inserted).

Leave it without power for 10+ minutes.

Reinsert batteries and try again.

Check the Power Button and LCD

Press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.

Watch closely for any flicker on the screen or lens movement.

If you hear a click or whirr, the camera may be trying to start but has a power issue.

Check for Visible Damage

Any sign of battery leakage inside the compartment?

Broken battery door latch?

If yes, the issue may be hardware and need repair.

Try USB Power (if available)

Some Photosmart models power on when connected via USB to a computer.

Plug in the camera to a computer with a mini-USB cable (not micro-USB).

See if the camera powers up or is recognized.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

  • thanks for your reply @garp_senchau. HP instant ink stills shows I’m enrolled so to guess that means I have to cancel my current plan and re-enroll? Thee is no way to link the current plan? I’m trying to avoid cancelling and reenroll because a. I was just booked for it and b. I have rollover pages I haven’t used that I’m sure I will lose.
