If you're experiencing a cartridge jam and flashing E 3, cancel (x), and paper symbols on the HP DeskJet 2820e AiO wireless printer, here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Turn Off the Printer: Start by turning off the printer using the power button.

Check for Obstructions: Open the front door of the printer and gently remove any jammed paper or foreign objects that might be causing the obstruction in the cartridge area.

Remove and Reinsert Cartridges:

  • Carefully remove the ink cartridges from their slots.
  • Examine the cartridges for any visible damage or obstruction.
  • Wipe the cartridges with a dry lint-free cloth to remove any dust from the copper contacts.
  • Reinsert the cartridges securely into their slots.

Ensure Proper Carriage Movement: Manually move the carriage (the part that holds the cartridges) to ensure it floats smoothly without restriction.

Close the Printer: Ensure that all access doors and trays are in the correct position and securely closed.

Restart the Printer: Turn the printer back on to see if the issue persists.

Printer Reset: If the error continues, perform a printer reset by unplugging the printer power cord from the electrical outlet, waiting for about 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in.

Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the correct HP ink cartridges are being used for the printer model.
  • Verify that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels and are not empty.

Product: HP DeskJet Plus 4140 All-In-One Printer

The power light, the ink alert light, the information light and the resume light are all flashing fast.  The display led is flashing and shows a big E and a smaller E in it

Printer message says output bin is full. It is empty.

Printer keeps saying that output bin is full when it is empty. There are no paper jams and there's paper in both trays.

Same problem as everyone else - except that, in my case, it was the Magenta ink. The printer was working fine until I replaced the Magenta ink cartridge, and it claimed it was defective. So I replaced all the ink cartridges and got the Printer Failure message. I'm out nearly $100 for ink and still have to buy a new printer!

I had fortunately ordered the new cartridges from Amazon, so I reported them as defective and returned them (they were opened of course). I did get my money back on the replacement cartridges I’d gotten that didn’t work. Depending on where you got yours, perhaps you can return yours also. Hopefully a lot of ink returns will finally get HP’s attention. They’re certainly not concerned now - they’re happy for you to have bought worthless ink cartridges for an old printer, then have to go out and buy a new printer, and of course new ink (where the money is).

Recently installed after market cartridge. worked for a couple of prints now no bueno.   I then discovered there is class action suit where my particular model (and discontinued) is involved. I like the functions and would like to keep it. my question is if I purchase hp cartridge will it work properly or should i bite the bullet and purchase a new one

Hi and thank you for your response. There were no updates outstanding when I checked but my printer received an update on Monday morning and started working again! What really annoys me most about this is HP clearly broke it with a faulty software update and when I went back to my old printer, HP had disabled that from working with the genuine HP cartridges it had as well. So they broke my new printer and disabled my old one. So much for progress

You can but it's not recommended. The time consuming and the mess you will make is more expensive that a new one.

I ended up buying a new printhead and that restored my 8620 to normal working condition. I thought of buying a new printer, which would have been a cheaper option, but I didn't find a current HP model that had the same features and none use the same cartridges so I opted to keep the 8620 and replace the printhead. It is currently using the HP setup cartridges that came with the printhead. I hope I don't have any issues when they run out and I go back to using compatible cartridges.

my printer either goes blank, the screen freezers or it keeps saying its offline or asleep and I cant get it to work again.

The error message "Print job paused. Printer Offline" on an HP Envy 6065e indicates a problem with the printer's communication with the computer, preventing printing.

Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for 30 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. 


Network Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer attempting to print. On the printer's control panel, verify it's connected to the correct network and has a valid IP address. 


Set as Default Printer: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and right-click the HP Envy 6065e, selecting "Set as default printer". 


Check Print Queue: Go to Devices and Printers, right-click the printer, and select "See what's printing" to check if there are any paused or stuck print jobs.

I understand you have trouble using the HP Smart tank 585 printer, where all the lights are blinking. Sorry to hear about the trouble.

Please try the steps shared below; this will help resolve the issue.

Please remove the Printhead from the Printer if possible, and try a Hard Reset. Do keep us posted to help you better

** Hard reset :
1. Turn the printer on if it is not already on.
2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8. Turn on the printer if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
 

HP Smart App: Please uninstall the HP Smart app --> restart the Device, Wi-Fi router and printer, --> install it back and add the printer.
 

HP Firmware Update: Please update the Firmware from the link. This will help to update the firmware on the printer or devices.

I turned on the printer and pressed printout on my phone to pick out my homework last night, but it didn't work at all. So I tried to press printout many times, but it didn't work, so I tried to connect to the printer Wi-Fi address and Wi-Fi direct, but it didn't work, so I couldn't see the touch screen after turning it on and off several times, but I can turn it on. But when I turn it off or off, I can only hear a crackling sound or the printer organizing

critical error F0.01.01.02 - followed all the steps, still error
