Hi @jjjlll,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the error message “There is a problem with the printer or ink system” on your HP Officejet 6600 (H711a/H711g) typically indicates a cartridge, printhead, or firmware issue. Even though your printer is out of warranty, you can still try these troubleshooting steps to resolve it:

1️. Restart the Printer (Hard Reset)

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. While it's on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall first, then into the printer.
  6. Turn the printer back on.

This resets internal hardware logic and can often clear temporary ink system errors.

2️. Remove and Reinstall Ink Cartridges:

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove all cartridges one by one.
  3. Check for ink leakage, tape, or dirty contacts.
  4. Gently clean the gold electrical contacts on each cartridge using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Also, clean the corresponding printhead contacts inside the printer.
  6. Let everything dry for 2–3 minutes.
  7. Reinstall the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

3️. Check for Printhead Errors & Clean Printhead from Printer Menu:

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  3. Perform up to 3 cleanings if needed.

4️. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults (if accessible)

  1. Tap the Home icon.
  2. Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore.
  3. Choose Restore Factory Defaults.

⚠️ This will erase network settings and preferences, but may clear ink system faults.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @GSeelye-51,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Yes, the number next to "FPU" is indeed your product number—that’s the one you should enter when adding the printer to your HP account.

Here's how HP numbers break down:

  • Serial Number (S/N): Unique to your specific unit.
  • FPU Number (Full Product Number): This is your product number, and it typically looks something like EX: (123ABC#XYZ or ABC123A).

If you still get an “Invalid Product Number” error:

Try the following:

  1. Double-check the format
    • Make sure there are no typos or extra spaces.
    • It’s case-sensitive—use uppercase letters exactly as shown.

  2. Try a different browser or device
    • Sometimes the HP site can be finicky depending on browser settings or cache.

  3. Use the HP Smart App (alternative method)
    • Install HP Smart on your phone or PC.
    • Sign in and add your printer via the app—it auto-fills your printer details, including product number.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, as it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Hi @akadbadave,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe printer to macOS 15.3.1. You're getting a "printer not found" error, and the system keeps asking for the SSID—sorry to hear about the issue.

Please try the basic steps and let me know if this helps. If not, we can move to advanced troubleshooting steps.

Please remove the Cartridges from the Printer if possible, and try a Hard Reset. Do keep us posted to help you better

** Hard reset :
1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8. Turn on the printer if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

HP Smart App: Please uninstall the HP Smart app --> restart the Device, Wi-Fi router and printer --> install it back and add the printer

Firmware Update: Please update the Firmware from the link, This will help with how to update the firmware on the printer or devices.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@Kidneyman9, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue where your HP OfficeJet 6950 does not respond to print commands:

1. Check Printer Connectivity

Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer or network:

  • If using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected at both ends.
  • If using a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

2. Restart Devices

Sometimes, simply restarting your devices can resolve connectivity issues:

  • Turn off your printer.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Turn your printer back on.

3. Verify Printer Status

Check the status of the printer to ensure it is ready to print:

  • Open the printer control panel and check for any paper jams or low ink warnings.
  • Ensure that the printer has paper loaded correctly.

4. Update Printer Driver

Updating the printer driver can resolve compatibility issues:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest driver for your HP OfficeJet 6950.
  • Install the driver and follow any on-screen instructions.

5. Print a Test Page

Print a test page directly from the printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the “Settings” or “Tools” and select “Print Quality Report” or “Print Test Page.”
  • If the test page prints successfully, it may indicate a software issue on your computer.

6. Check Print Queue

Ensure that the print queue is not stuck:

  • Open the print queue on your computer.
  • Cancel any stuck print jobs and try printing the document again.

7. Reinstall Printer Software

Reinstalling the printer software can resolve software issues:

  • Uninstall the printer software from your computer.
  • Download the latest software from the HP Support website.
  • Install the software and follow the setup instructions.

8. HP Print and Scan Doctor

Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix issues:

I hope this helps.

@Corina7, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I understand that you are getting a carriage jam issue on the printer, and it shows Event code: 71.02.4A, I am glad to assist you in fixing this issue.

Check for obstructions in the carriage path to make sure the carriage path is not blocked.

  • With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • If your printer has a battery, remove the battery.
  • Open the door to access the carriage inside of the printer.

Examples of carriage access doors

Examples of printer door locations

  • Look in the carriage path for debris such as crumpled paper or dislodged labels, and then remove any that you find.

Example of a printer with debris in the carriage path

View inside a printer showing crumpled paper in the carriage path causing a carriage jam

  • If the carriage on your printer has a latch, make sure it is closed.

Example of the carriage latches

  • Use your hand to move the carriage to each side, making sure it moves freely. If the carriage is stalled or docked to one side of the printer and you cannot move it, continue with these steps.
  • Close the carriage access door.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn the printer on.

Reset the printer

  • An error might continue to display after the jam is cleared. To clear the error state, reset the printer, connecting the power cord directly to a wall outlet to make sure the power source is stable and prevent more carriage jams.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

Re: 8630 officejet - " problem with printer or Ink system " bootloop

Hi @adrenaljunkie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing persistent issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8630. The error message you're seeing—"There is a problem with the printer or ink system"—can be especially frustrating when it's preventing all functionality.

We appreciate your effort in replacing the cartridges and printhead, and understand the concern. While we respect your technical curiosity around NVNAND resets and related tools, HP does not support or recommend hardware-level resets using jumpers or unofficial software tools, as they may void warranty or permanently damage the device.

1. Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges

Even though your 3rd-party ink is "guaranteed to work", HP printers are designed for use with genuine HP ink. Non-HP ink can trigger system errors due to missing or altered chip data.

  • Try re-installing genuine HP cartridges (even expired ones for testing, if available).

2. Reset the Printer

A semi-full reset can sometimes clear firmware-related issues:

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall, then to the printer.
  6. Turn the printer back on and check for the error.

3. Clean Printhead (if accessible)

If the error allows any access:

  • From the control panel: Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.

Since you've already replaced the printhead, skip if the menu is inaccessible.

4. Check for Firmware Updates (if accessible)

If you're able to bypass the error briefly, you can update firmware via:

  • HP Smart App
  • Or via the HP Support site

5. Printer Stuck in Bootloop

If the printer continually reboots:

  • Disconnect network cables or disable Wi-Fi, then restart.
  • Bootloops can sometimes be caused by failed firmware attempts or corrupted job queues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Re: Getting "Printer Failure" message

Hi @Sbriman,

Thank you for the response:

Here's what you can try next:

Perform a Hard Reset

This goes a step beyond a power cycle.

Turn the printer on

While it’s on, unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet

Wait at least 60 seconds

Plug it directly into a wall outlet (not through a power strip or surge protector)

Reconnect to the printer and turn it back on

Sometimes this clears latent firmware lockups.

Check Ink Cartridges

Faulty or incompatible cartridges can trigger this exact message.

Remove all cartridges

Inspect for ink buildup, leaks, or broken contacts

Clean the copper/gold-colored electrical contacts on the cartridge and the printer carriage with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water

Reinsert one cartridge at a time and power the printer on — this helps isolate which one might be causing trouble

Update Printer Firmware (via USB if needed)

If your printer allows, update the firmware using:

HP Software & Driver Downloads

Or the HP Smart App

If you can’t access the display panel due to the error, try installing the firmware using USB from a connected computer.

Check for Hardware Failure (via Printer Report / Print Quality Diagnostic)

If the printer starts up long enough to allow it, try printing a Print Quality Diagnostic Report from the settings. If it doesn’t work — that suggests a hardware-level failure.

I hope this helps.

Hi @George1610,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x6100004a on your HP OfficeJet 6950 typically indicates a hardware issue, often related to the carriage area or a paper jam. Here's how to troubleshoot and potentially resolve it:

1: Perform a Factory Reset:

⚠️ This will remove network settings, passwords, and any custom configuration, returning the printer to default settings.

  1. Turn the printer on
  2. On the printer control panel, go to:
    • Menu > Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults
  3. Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to restart.

Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi using the HP Smart app or Wi-Fi setup from the printer panel.

2: Check for Paper Jams: If you had a paper jam, make sure the paper path cover is fully inserted and doesn't interfere with closing the access door.

3: Update Firmware: Check for and install the latest printer firmware from the HP website

4: Remove and Reinstall Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Restart the printer.

Reinsert the ink cartridges and try.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@KCUFme, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "i" button on your HP DeskJet 2752e All-in-One Printer is the Information button. When it lights up, it typically indicates that the printer has a message or needs attention. Here are a few common reasons why this might happen:

  1. Low Ink or Cartridge Issues: The printer might be alerting you to low ink levels or a problem with the ink cartridges.
  2. Paper Jam: There could be a paper jam or another issue with the paper feed.
  3. Network Issues: If you're using the printer wirelessly, there might be a problem with the network connection.
  4. General Error: The printer might have encountered a general error that needs to be addressed.

To troubleshoot, you can try the following steps:

  1. Check Ink Levels: Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and have enough ink.
  2. Clear Paper Jams: Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  3. Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  4. Print a Test Page: Press the Information button to print a summary of the printer settings and statu
