Hi @Grandma1967,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The "Tray is Open" error may occur after a paper jam, even if you have cleared the jam and reset the printer. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check the Tray Position:

  • Ensure that the tray is properly closed and seated. Pull out the tray and then push it back in firmly.

Inspect for Objects:

  • Inspect the paper tray area for any foreign objects or remaining pieces of paper that might be causing the error.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes, a simple reset can clear such errors. Follow these steps to reset your HP printer:
    • Turn off the printer, then disconnect the power cord.
    • Wait for 60 seconds before reconnecting the power cord.
    • Turn the printer back on and check if the error message is cleared.

Checking for False Jam:

  • Follow the steps in the HP provided document to ensure you have properly cleared all areas of potential paper jam.
  • Paper Jam Error

I hope this helps.

What half top-bottom or left-right? What printer model you are referring to?

it’s a HP Envy 6120e printer

it is always the bottom half not printing.

Thank you for response @DonCheech

Since you've tried all the steps, including a factory reset, and the printer still refuses to accept the new HP cartridge, it's possible that:

  1. The printhead has retained an error state from the off-brand cartridge.
  2. The HP cartridge's chip is not being recognized properly.
  3. There's firmware corruption or hardware failure in the ink system.

Final Steps to Try:

1️⃣ Force Firmware Update via USB

If the printer is grayed out in the update tool, try updating via a direct USB connection instead of Wi-Fi:

  • Download the firmware update from HP’s website.
  • Connect the printer directly to your PC via USB (not over Wi-Fi).
  • Restart the update tool and check if the printer is selectable.

2️⃣ Remove & Reseat the Printhead (If Detachable)

If your OfficeJet Pro 8610 has a removable printhead:

  • Remove all ink cartridges.
  • Lift the latch and carefully remove the printhead.
  • Wipe the copper contacts with a damp lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the printhead and lock it in place.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges and power the printer back on.

3️⃣ Use HP’s "Single Cartridge Mode" Trick

  • Remove all cartridges and close the door.
  • Restart the printer and let it detect "Cartridges Missing".
  • Insert only the black cartridge first and see if the printer recognizes it.
  • Then insert the cyan cartridge separately and check for changes.

4️⃣ Replace the Cyan Cartridge (Possible Chip Failure)

  • Even though it's an HP cartridge, there is a chance the chip is faulty or was locked out due to the previous off-brand ink.
  • If possible, return it for a replacement or try another HP cyan cartridge.

At this point, if none of the above works, it’s likely a hardware-level failure in the ink system, and repair or printhead replacement may be the only solution.

I hope this helps!

@srarodriguezlan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code EBS00P0013 on your HP LaserJet M110we printer usually indicates a setup or firmware-related issue. Try these steps to resolve it:

1. Reset the Printer

Remove the toner cartridge.

Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, then release it.

Wait for 30 seconds before plugging the power cord back in.

Reinsert the toner cartridge and turn the printer back on.

2. Update the Printer Firmware

Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.

Enter your printer model (HP LaserJet M110we) and download the latest firmware update.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

3. Reinstall the Printer Software

Uninstall the current HP Smart App or printer drivers from your computer.

Restart your computer.

Download and install the latest version of the HP Smart App or drivers from HP's website.

4. Check Network Connection

Ensure your printer is properly connected to Wi-Fi.

If you experience issues, try reconnecting the printer to the network using the HP Smart App.

For troubleshooting, consider temporarily connecting the printer using a USB cable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Wendy407,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Load Supported Paper Size:

  • Ensure you have loaded a supported paper size, such as 8.5x11 inches (letter size), into the input tray.
  • Adjust the paper width guides to fit snugly against the loaded paper.

Check Printer Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Setup.
  • Navigate to Copy Settings.
  • Confirm that the paper size is set correctly to 8.5x11 inches or the appropriate size you are using.

Reset Printer Defaults:

  • Sometimes, resetting the printer settings to default may help resolve configuration issues.
  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
  • Follow the prompts to restore the printer to its factory settings.

Update Printer Firmware:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

Use HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  • Use the app to verify and configure the paper size settings.
  • Ensure the copy settings in the app match the paper loaded in the printer.

Check Copy Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, select Copy.
  • Press Settings or Copy Settings.
  • Verify the paper size is set correctly to the size of paper loaded in the tray (e.g., 8.5x11 inches).

Test Copying

Perform a Test Copy:

  • Load a document on the scanner bed or ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
  • Ensure the document size matches the paper in the tray.
  • Start a copy and check if the error persists.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about one minute and then plug the printer back in.
  • Turn the printer on and try to copy again.

Following these steps should help resolve the issue with the copy size error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 and ensure documents are copied at the correct size.

Hello, I have a HP Officejet Pro 8620. It worked fine until yesterday when a printer error came up.

It says:

There is a problem with the printer or inc system.  Turn printer off, then on.  If the problem persists contact HP.

There is no number. When we restart it no change.

Please help!

Thank you.

error E 0

Great here we go again with the typing and trying again. Today, ladies and gentlemen, we are working with a HP  ENVY 6455 All-In-One. Today this device has become the bne of my existence and is creating tormenting little printer spawn mems on the net. Now seriously I have read the other threads that contain an E 0 error and the slightly apply however I have tried all of the steps is not more with some exception the printer is currently not installed on my machine or network so I can not run a full diagnostic on it yet alone install it due to the E 0 error.  It is an inherited machine from when my fayher passes and my mother got a new all-in-one.

Here are the facts have genuine  and correct HP ink cartridges. They are not loose in connection and both connections (printer and cartridge) have been cleaned. Paperjam has been searched fpr, not found but cleared. Error has been limited to the color cartridge only.  Both cartridges have been replaced with new cartridges. Machine is currently unplugged and before todays attempted install has been unplugged for 3 months without error.

Troubleshooting steps have been followed.

Please advise.
