Hi @drshow, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw is going offline whenever you turn it on. This can be caused by various network, power-saving, or driver-related issues. Try these troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Set the Printer to "Use Printer Online"

Open Control PanelDevices and Printers.

Right-click your HP printer and select See what's printing.

In the new window, click Printer at the top.

If Use Printer Offline is checked, click to uncheck it.

Step 2: Disable Power Saving on the Printer

On the printer control panel, go to SetupPreferences.

Look for Energy Settings or Auto-Off.

Set it to "Off" or a longer duration" to prevent the printer from going offline.

Step 3: Set a Static IP Address (Recommended for Network Stability)

Find the printer's IP address:

Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.

Locate the IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.100).

Set the IP as static:

Open a web browser and type the printer's IP address into the address bar.

Click Network → IPv4 Settings.

Select Manual IP and enter the same IP address.

Click Apply.

Step 4: Reinstall the Printer with the HP Smart App

Remove the existing printer:

Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.

Select your printer and click Remove device.

Reinstall using HP Smart:

Download and install HP Smart from the Microsoft Store.

Open HP Smart and follow the on-screen instructions to add the printer.

Step 5: Disable SNMP for the Printer (Fixes Network Detection Issues)

Open Control PanelDevices and Printers.

Right-click your HP printer and select Printer Properties.

Go to the Ports tab.

Click Configure Port.

Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled and click OK.

Step 6: Check Windows Services

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Find Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.

Set its Startup Type to Automatic if it isn’t already.

@Jamalaiah, Welcome to HP Support Community. 👋

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

We see that you are getting error code 0XC4EB8021 on your HP Smart Tank 530 Wireless All-in-One printer. I'm here to guide your hands through solutions you can feel working.

This error whispers of internal troubles – perhaps the ink system struggling to communicate, the printhead sitting slightly askew, or electronic pathways interrupted. Let me walk you through remedies you can touch, see, and hear:

Restart the Printer:

Turn off the printer.

Unplug it from the power source.

Wait for 2–3 minutes.

Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions:

Open the printer and inspect for any jammed paper or debris.

Ensure the carriage moves freely.

Reset the Printer:

Disconnect the printer from power.

Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.

Reconnect and turn it on.

Check the Ink Cartridges and Printhead:

Open the ink access door.

Remove and reinsert the cartridges.

If you recently replaced the printhead, ensure it is installed correctly.

Update the Printer Firmware:

If possible, check HP support website for any available firmware updates.

Perform a Factory Reset (If Accessible):

If the printer's control panel is still responsive, navigate to Settings > Restore Defaults.

I hope you can sense the relief as your printer hums back to life, the error vanishing from the screen.🙂

Take care and have a good day. 😇

Hi @gilliland5, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP DeskJet 2722 All-in-One Printer keeps showing as busy, even after trying to wake it up, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Restart the Printer and Devices

Turn off the printer and unplug it from power for at least 60 seconds.

Restart your computer and router (if using wireless).

Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Clear Print Queue

On Windows:

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Scroll down to find Print Spooler.

Right-click it, select Stop, then go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files inside.

Go back to Services, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

On Mac:

Open System Settings> Printers & Scanners.

Select the HP DeskJet 2722, click Open Print Queue, and clear any stuck jobs.

Check Printer Status

Make sure the printer is set as default in your computer’s printer settings.

If using USB, try another port or cable.

If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the correct network.

Reinstall the Printer

Windows:

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click your printer and select Remove device.

Download and install the latest drivers from HP's official website.

Mac:

Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Remove and re-add the printer.

Reset the Printer

Hold the Power button and press the Cancel (X) buttonfor 10 seconds.

The printer will restart and reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Re: HP Smart tank 7001 keeps telling giving me a print head error, new printer, new print heads.

@Kuroi_Kenshi wrote:

Hi @JimBeamBlack,

This sounds like a classic sensor misalignment or poor electrical contact issue with the print head carriage. Here’s why your HP Smart Tank 7001 (and your work's 650 series) keeps falsely detecting a print head error:

Loose Print Head Contact

  • The print head connectors might not be fully seated or are slightly misaligned.
  • Over time, oxidation or dust can interfere with the electrical contacts.
  • When you slam the access door, the force re-seats the connectors, temporarily fixing the issue.

Fix:

  • Remove the print heads and clean the gold contact points with a lint-free cloth & isopropyl alcohol.
  • Reinsert them firmly until you hear a click.

Carriage Position Sensor Issue

  • Some HP printers have a small position sensor that detects whether the print heads are installed correctly.
  • If this sensor is misaligned or failing, it randomly reports a print head error.
  • Slamming the door could be temporarily jarring it back into place.

Fix:

  • Try manually moving the print carriage left and right (with the printer off) to check for any resistance or misalignment.

Faulty or Weak Printer Lid Sensor

  • Many HP printers have a small switch or sensor that detects whether the print carriage door is fully closed.
  • If this sensor is slightly misaligned or failing, the printer might not register that the door is properly shut.
  • Slamming it forces the sensor to engage correctly, allowing printing to resume.

Fix:

  • Try pressing gently but firmly on the printer lid instead of slamming.
  • If that works, the issue is with the lid sensor—you may need a technician to adjust it.

  • Check for a firmware update on HP’s support website.
  • Try resetting the printer to factory settings.

Your coworker’s “solution” works because physical force temporarily re-seats loose components or re-engages a faulty sensor. But long-term, you may want to inspect & clean the print head contacts, check the carriage movement, and update the firmware to prevent this from happening repeatedly.

Hi @afiaF, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your printer. It sounds frustrating! Let's try a few more steps to see if we can resolve the issue:

  1. Check Ink Levels: Ensure that all ink cartridges have sufficient ink. Sometimes low ink levels can cause printing issues.
  2. Reinstall Ink Cartridges: Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to make sure they are properly seated.
  3. Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website.
  4. Run a Printhead Alignment: This can sometimes fix issues with print quality. You can usually find this option in your printer's maintenance menu.
  5. Print a Test Page: This can help diagnose if the issue is with the printer or the document you're trying to print.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Re: paper vs envelopes

Hi @Toes

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how tedious this process must feel, and while HP's current system involves multiple steps, here are some ideas to simplify your workflow for the OfficeJet 8015E as much as possible:

1. Create Permanent Custom Shortcuts:

Set up two custom printing shortcuts in HP Smart: one for envelopes and another for regular letter printing.

When you want to switch between the two, you can select the appropriate shortcut with just a click instead of reconfiguring all the settings each time.

Steps:

Open HP Smart and navigate to the print settings.

Configure envelope settings (envelope size, orientation, etc.) and save it as a shortcut (e.g., "Envelope Print").

Do the same for standard paper settings and save it (e.g., "Standard Print").

In the future, you can toggle between these saved shortcuts based on your printing needs.

2. Use Printer Control Panel for Size Settings:

If HP Smart isn’t mandatory for your printing, set the desired paper or envelope size using the printer's control panel before each type of printing. It might take fewer steps than toggling both in HP Smart and Printer Setup.

3. Automate Size Selection:

Some users find it helpful to load envelopes or letter paper into separate paper trays (if your printer supports this) and let the printer auto-detect the paper type. If this option is available, you may not need to adjust settings as often.

Hi @35john,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Steps to Resolve Double Printing Issue

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct print settings. Sometimes double-sided printing might be enabled inadvertently.
  • Open the printer properties and check if the "Duplex Printing" option is enabled. Disable it if you do not need double-sided printing.

Inspect the Print Quality Settings:

  • Ensure that the print quality settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, incorrect settings can lead to printing issues.

Printhead Alignment:

  • Perform a printhead alignment to ensure printheads are properly aligned and functioning correctly.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve printing issues.
  • Visit the HP Support website for firmware updates and instructions.

Reset the printer:

  • Try performing a factory reset on the printer to restore default settings.
  • The option to reset can be found in the printer's settings menu.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Inspect the printer for paper jams or obstructions that could be causing print issues.

Clean the printer:

  • Clean the printer rollers and the printhead. Sometimes, debris or ink buildup can lead to printing problems.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi @rdp21

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The Event Code 71.02.4A on your HP 8030 Series printer indicates a Print System Error, which often points to a hardware or firmware issue.

Since you've already tried turning off the printer and disconnecting the power source (a good first step), here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Perform a Hard Reset:

Turn the printer off again and unplug it from the wall.

Wait for 5-10 minutes to allow residual power to drain completely.

Plug the printer back in and turn it on to see if the issue is resolved.

2. Check for Jammed Paper or Obstructions:

Open the printer and inspect it thoroughly for any paper jams, debris, or loose components.

Remove the cartridges and check the carriage area for anything that could block its movement.

3. Update the Firmware:

HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.

Click on the link below for instructions on how to update the firmware of your printer.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

4. Reset to Factory Settings:

If the error persists, reset your printer to factory settings. Instructions for this should be available in the user manual or through the printer's control panel under Setup> Printer Maintenance> Restore Factory Defaults.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi @stars13, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Your HP OfficeJet 9010e is flashing a frustrating "Supply System Problem" message, even after you've swapped in fresh, original HP 963 cartridges. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step and get your printer back in action.

1. Verify Cartridge Authenticity

Since you are using original HP 963 cartridges, ensure they are not setup cartridges (marked with "SETUP" on the label).

2. Reseat the Cartridges

Remove all cartridges from the printer.

Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall for at least 2 minutes.

Clean the cartridge contacts with a dry lint-free cloth.

Reinsert the cartridges one by one, ensuring they click into place.

Close the door and restart the printer.

3. Update Firmware

HP regularly updates printer firmware to improve performance and fix bugs.

Go to HP Support and check for firmware updates for your printer.

If the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, you can update it via Settings > Printer Updates.

4. Perform a Hard Reset

With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back.

Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.

Plug it back into the wall directly, not through a surge protector.

Reconnect the power cable to the printer and turn it on.

5. Clean the Printhead (if applicable)

If you had previous ink issues, the printhead may be clogged.

Run a printhead cleaning cycle via Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.

6. Try Different Cartridges

If possible, try using another set of original HP 963 cartridges to rule out defective ones.

If you have Instant Ink cartridges, ensure they are properly installed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Re: HP Envy 4520 printer screen is blank/stopped working

$

Hi @iam_Katy, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP Envy 4520 printer has a blank screen and basic troubleshooting like unplugging for an extended period did not work, try the following steps to diagnose and potentially fix the issue:

Perform a Hard Reset

Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait at least 1 minute to discharge residual power.

Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds (while the printer is unplugged).

Reconnect the power cable directly to the wall outlet (avoid using a surge protector).

Turn on the printer and check if the screen lights up.

Try a Different Power Source & Adapter

Ensure the power adapter is working by trying a different outlet.

If possible, test another compatible HP power adapter.

Check for Display Backlight Issues

Use a flashlight and shine it directly at the screen at different angles.

If you see faint text/images, the screen's backlight may have failed, requiring repair.

Print a Self-Test Report (Bypass Screen)

If the printer is still responsive despite the blank screen, try these steps to check for signs of life:

Turn on the printer (if it's not already on).

Press and hold the Power button.

While holding the power button, press the Cancel button (X)6 times and then release both buttons.

The printer should attempt to print a report.

If it prints, the display is likely faulty, but the printer is operational.

Factory Reset via Button Combination (If Accessible)

Since the screen is blank, you can attempt a reset using the secret key combination:

Turn off the printer.

Press and hold the Back (⤺) + Cancel (X) buttons together.

While holding these buttons, turn the printer on.

Keep holding until the printer powers up and resets.

Check for Physical Damage & Loose Connections

If you're comfortable opening the printer, check the display ribbon cable inside.

A loose or damaged cable could be causing the blank screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @soliver436, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
This message usually indicates an issue with your HP+ or HP Instant Ink subscription. Since your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e is an HP+ printer, it's likely tied to an HP account for Instant Ink or connected services. Here’s what you can do to resolve it:

Steps to Fix the "Check Your Account" Message:

1. Verify Your HP Account Status

Go to the HP Smart website and log in with your HP account.

Look for any alerts or notifications about billing, subscription status, or payment failures.

If you're using HP Instant Ink, check if your subscription is active and in good standing.

2. Sign Out and Sign Back In on the Printer

On the printer's touchscreen, go to Setup > HP Account.

Choose Sign Out, then restart the printer.

Sign back in with your HP account credentials.

3. Check for HP Smart App Notifications

Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.

Click on Account Settings or Instant Ink to see if any issues are mentioned.

If there's a problem, it might prompt you to update payment details or confirm your email.

4. Check Your Internet Connection

Ensure your printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.

If the connection is weak, restart your router and reconnect the printer.

5. Update Printer Firmware

On the printer’s display, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

If an update is available, install it.

6. Reset Web Services

Go to Setup > Web Services Settings.

Turn Web Services Off, then turn it On again.

This may refresh your connection with HP servers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
