The printer requires that all ink cartridges used in the printer include an HP chip embedded in the cartridge.

 

This limitation includes cartridges that are refilled (by you) and / or refilled and sold by any seller, and remanufactured cartridges.

 

This protection is called Dynamic Security.

 

There is no legal means of removing or bypassing the need for the HP chip in the ink cartridge.

 

HP does not sell, recommend, nor support any of used or refilled practices.

 

The use of of a used or refilled HP chipped cartridge might be tolerated by the printer.

I downloaded pdf checker, but due to limited home time (OTR truck driver) I didn't get a chance to read the documentation. Apparently there's no GUI, and they make you hand over your email address for a free trial.

However, I haven't had any problem printing from LibreOffice Writer, so I'm suspecting it may have something to do with the PS/PCL thing you mentioned. Dunno why HP keeps trying to force the PCL meme. It was a problem 20 years ago, and it's still a problem.

If you unplug the printer, and then press and hold the power button until the screen shows the boot loader, you can try to re-flash the firmware.  However, this did not work for me.  About 8 seconds by my count.  The boot loader shows the white arrow on the left and the red x on the right.  Press the red x four times and you get a screen that says "MFG MENU REFLASH" and then the Question Mark lights up.  Press the Question Mark 1 time to get to the navigation screen.   Once you at the navigation screen the arrow button is left, the red x is right and the question mark is OK.

Using those commands you can attempt to reflash, which did not work for me.  I tried every option there and none of them worked, including OOBE which I think means "out of box experience" which is supposed to fully reset.

HP should replace these bricked printers.  It is not our fault that a firmware upgrade contained a flaw.  It is not a coincidence that multiple people on the same day got prompted for a firmware update and the printer stopped working after the firmware upgrade.

Hello  Thank you for the reply

 

I tried all  of your suggestions.  

I restored network settings and reconnected to WiFi.  Printer and computer are on the same network.

I set up a static IP address.

The HP Scan Doctor did not come up with anything, and neither did the troubleshooting tool within the HP Smart app.  

 

However, the error message has changed/disappeared.

If I try to print via my Chrome browser to the HP Smart App, I no longer get the print failed error I previously did.  I get no error message, but nothing prints.

If I try to print via Adobe, I get a message saying "The document could not be printed".

Also, confirming that I still am able to print directly to the HP printer.  I just cannot print via the HP Smart App.

I've already tried to correct “Missing or Failed Printhead” Error 19a0023 with the HP Virtual Assistant's suggestion (basically boiled down to totally unplug and wait 60 seconds before powering up again) without any luck.  PLEASE HELP IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN and thanks!


HP 6455e Printer says it's offline yet it's hard wired with USB and wireless network. Not printing

Connects and disconnects from internet. I have it on wireless and USB yet it still says offline.  Now my printer is flashing yellow on the right side, signaling ink issues but both inks are full and connected.  I am never buying HP again.  This is absolute nonsense trying to fix these issues.  The HP Smart diagnostic is a  POS and does nothing.

I am trying to print 1 pages and instead my printer shoots out a bunch of blank pages with a few in between that have numbers printed across them.

When I turn on my HP ENVY PHOTO 7858 printer, I only see the HP Logo. How can I fix this issue?

My HP ENVY Photo 7858 printer is stuck with the HP logo on the screen when I turn it on. I have no WiFi or other screen options to choose from. Has anyone had this issue? If so, how did you resolve the issue?

HP Office Jet Pro 8030 series printer: Problem w/ printer or print system - Event Code 71.02.4A.  Quick "fix" doesn't work.  Can I fix on my own, take it to Geek Squad or simply buy a new printer?   Thx.

Looks like your printer is giving you a hard time with printing, let's fix that stubborn issue.

Try these troubleshooting steps to fix your HP ENVY 6055e not printing on macOS Monterey:

1. Restart Everything

  • Power cycle your printer: Turn it off, unplug for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your Mac and Wi-Fi router.

2. Check the Print Queue

  • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP ENVY 6055e and click "Open Print Queue."
  • If there are stuck print jobs, delete them and try printing again.

3. Reset the Printing System

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control + click) in the printer list and select "Reset printing system."
  • Add your HP 6055e back by clicking "+" > Select Printer > Add.

4. Reinstall HP Smart & Printer Drivers

  • Reinstall the printer using HP Smart.

5. Check Connection

  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure your printer and Mac are on the same network.

Did this help? Im having the same problem with my HP Deskjet 3755 and it started last Feb 3 2025. 

If I print let's say 20 pages all at once, either a) it prints only 2 out of 20, or b) it stops not even half of the first page. When I look into the printer queue, there's no document in the process of printing. I have tried all steps - uninstall & install HP Smart and the Printer, align printheads, clean printheads, download full package of software/drivers, and replacing the ink cartridges. I ran the HP Print and Scan doctor, but it doesnt detect any problem.

HP Deskjet 3755 doesn't finish printing a page range; stops in the middle of the first page.

Im having the same problem with my HP Deskjet 3755 and it started last Feb 3 2025. 

If I print let's say 20 pages all at once, either a) it prints only 2 out of 20, or b) it stops at 1/4 of the first page. When I look into the printer queue, there's no document in the process of printing. I have tried all steps - uninstall & install HP Smart and the Printer, align printheads, clean printheads, download full package of software/drivers, and replacing the ink cartridges. I ran the HP Print and Scan doctor, but it doesnt detect any problem. I still have 1,200+ pages left in my plan. How am I gonna use that all up now if this printer is acting up? Thanks

8710 Printer not printing. Green bar flashing!

Printer was working just fine until I did a Mac update on my computer today.  Trying to print and my 8710 keeps flashing a green bar and no error message.  GRRRRRR.  Of course it's the weekend and HP is closed and just waiting to hear on Monday that my printer is expired and they won't provide any support.  Wish HP was like Apple.  I have older Apple devices and they always provide support.  

Dashboard shows "some features" by my printer HP 4500 ENVY. WHAT DO I DO TO CLEAR QUE??

Dashboard shows my HP Envy 4500, which has not been printing lately, next to printer name "some features", is sporadically printing but what do I need to do to solve the puzzle?? It is over 10 years old so I'll be told to replace it, can't yet, but I'd bet the firmware needs updated. Help?
