Creating / Using Custom Paper Size Form

Supported versions of Windows

 

  • If not done, install the full driver printer software

 

  • Create a Custom Paper Size Form in Printing Preferences

  • Check / Adjust the printer Tray and PaperSize and Type using either the touchscreen Printer Control Panel or the Embedded Web Server (EWS)  -- If available on your printer, set the paper size to size "Custom". 
  • NOTE>> If size "Custom" is not available, then skip this step.

          Reminder> Trays, Options, including Paper Sizes and Types are model dependent.

 

  • Open Printer Properties> tab Advanced> make sure Driver= the HPdriver and not the Microsoft or IPP driver.

Printer Software

 

If you have not yet done so, install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

 

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.

 

NOTES:  

 

HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.

 

The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.  If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.

 

No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.

 

 

Reinstalling?

 

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
  • If your printer includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.
  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

In general, the web pack should load -

Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator

 

If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.

 

Using USB?  (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.

 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

  • When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut

Thanks for posting this. The video did not work in my cm1415fnw but the link to that other discussion shows the correct procedure.  I love my cm1415fnw and it accepts the really cheap refilled toners unlike the newer OEM printers.  I just wish it had auto duplex.

Hi, I bought, in Japan, cartridges 804 for my Tango X (which I had purchased in UK, a few years ago). I have brought my printer with me to Japan, and I get an incompatibility message, and can't print, as a consequence. How can I bypass this message please.  Thanks

Print Spooler Error

Successfully installed HP Smart Tank 7000. It prints sucessfully but if printing from my Samsung 24 Ultra phone, after successful printing I get a print spooler error message and cannot use the printer again without restarting my phone to get rid of this message. I don't have this issue on my laptop. Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

Keeping getting this error message

I follow the instruction, do a couple of prints and it comes back. I have also disconnected printer from power source. Both cartridges have been replaced and are HP.

Not Recognizing Instant Ink- older envy 5020

My older Hp 5020  does not respond to Instant Ink properly for 2 years unless I create a new user?! I have been charged monthly for 2 years even though I can't print or order ink and of course  the online BOT can't sort this.The only way to stop charges is to cancel. I have had zero response from support.

However, I have deadlines and need to print. So buy buy another brand? 

It's a waste of a printer!!
