I kind of solved my own issue. I found pressing the red X 5 times then the ? got me to the service menu, I then followed the instructions from the other link to reflash and the printer booted again, phew.
So is it possible to update firmware without this occurring?
Printer too slow & small print & double side printing when not selected since install Windows 11 PC
I am currently having issues with printing on two sides on anything via my printer. I've had this for a little less than 3 years now had no problems until today with printing on both sides of the paper. I've looked up numerous online articles and even sought out support but they had told me to buy a new printer since it was the culprit.
The interesting thing is that it will print both sides of the paper via the HP smart app on my phone, so I have a difficult time believing something is wrong with the printer itself. I need help, anyone have issues similar to mine?
Hp has it set up so the printers will only work for so long. Then they want you to buy a new one.. from them.

This printer has done nothing but be a pain in the arsenal every since the day that I received it. Customer support is supposed to be 24/7 and they are never available. This printer is **bleep**.
