My warranty ended in May of 2024. Now my printer doesn't print. I will send the appropriate command, but the white power button continues to blink and the orange i button doesn't print what the problem is.  I don't have the money to extend the warranty, so does that mean I have to buy another printer?

Hi @Gene02,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the HP app update has caused your printer/scanner to become unrecognized and you're experiencing issues with scanning, here are several steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Verify Printer and Scanner Connection

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. For USB connections, make sure the cable is securely plugged in. For network connections, check if the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

2. Check Printer Settings and Status

Printer Status:

  • Ensure that the printer is online and not in an error state. Check the printer's display for any error messages.

Default Printer:

  • Go to Settings> Devices> Printers & scanners.
  • Ensure your HP DeskJet 2132 is set as the default printer.

3. Reinstall the HP Software

Uninstall Existing HP Software:

  • Go to Settings> Apps> Apps & features.
  • Find and uninstall the HP Smart app and any other HP software.

Download and Install the Latest Software:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your HP DeskJet 2132.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software specifically for your printer model.

4. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Visit the HP Print and Scan Doctor page.
    • Download and run the tool. Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix issues with printing and scanning.

5. Check for Windows Updates

  1. Update Windows:
    • Go to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update.
    • Check for updates and install any available updates.

6. Configure Scanner Settings Manually

Access Scanner Settings:

  • Open the Control Panel.
  • Go to Hardware and Sound> Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP DeskJet 2132 and select Properties or Scanner Properties.

Test Scanner:

  • If available, use the Scan tab to try and scan a document directly from the Devices and Printers window.

7. Try a Different App

Use Windows Built-In Scanning App:

  • Open the Windows Scan app (available in the Microsoft Store if not already installed).
  • Try to scan using this app to check if the issue is with the HP Smart app.

Use an Alternative Scanning Software:

  • Consider using third-party scanning software that is compatible with your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Bethany86,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer might be dealing with a few common issues. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Check Printhead Nozzles:

  • Perform a printhead cleaning through the HP Smart app or your printer’s control panel. This can help clear any clogged nozzles.

Check for Ink Cartridge Issues:

  • Ensure the ink cartridges are properly installed and securely seated. Sometimes, even if the ink levels are fine, improperly installed cartridges can cause issues.
  • Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Use the built-in diagnostic tools in the HP Smart app to check for any specific issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.

Check Print Settings:

  • Make sure the print settings are set to print in color. Sometimes, if the settings are incorrect, the printer might print blank pages or only partial content.

Inspect the Printhead:

  • If the printhead is removable, gently clean it with a lint-free cloth and distilled water. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling it.

Test Different Paper Types:

  • Sometimes, the type of paper can affect print quality. Try printing on a different type of paper to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

M283fdw printer control black screen, powers on, makes the normal power up sound but my iMac can not find it via USB.  Also tried a network cable connected to my iMac.
Apparently this is a common issue. Printer purchased 13 months ago, little use.

Unplugged and waited a few min and started.
Unplugged and withed minutes, reconnected power cord while pressing the power button in for 20 sec.
Unplugged, set it in the road and hit it at 40 MPH with my Land Rover, glued and wired pieces back together and still black screen nor iMac see it via USB.
Next I will heat it up in a 2000F smelter...

Hi @KBRD6,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a false paper jam issue with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw, try the following steps:

Check for Any Remaining Debris: Even though you cleaned the rollers, make sure there are no small pieces of paper or debris inside the printer. Look carefully in all accessible areas.

Inspect All Paper Paths: Ensure all paper paths are clear. Check the input and output trays, and any additional paper trays.

Verify the Paper Tray: Ensure the paper tray is properly seated and aligned. Sometimes, if the tray is not fully inserted, it can trigger a false paper jam error.

Check the Fuser Unit: The fuser unit can sometimes cause false jams if it is not properly seated. Make sure it is correctly installed.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve false error issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer

Perform a Printer Self-Test:

  • Go to the printer’s control panel.
  • Navigate to the Setup menu and select "Print Quality."
  • Choose "Print Test Page" or "Print Configuration Page." This can help diagnose if the printer itself is detecting any issues.

Refer to this document: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Upholsteress,

Thank you for your response.. If your HP OfficeJet 8035 is not printing blue or other colors on your Mac running macOS Ventura, and you’ve already tried standard troubleshooting steps, there are a few additional strategies you can use. Here's a comprehensive guide to address the issue:

1. Check Ink Levels

Open HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac. If you don’t have it installed, download and install it from the HP website.

Check Ink Levels:

  • In the HP Smart app, go to the Ink Levels section to ensure that your blue ink cartridge is not empty or nearly empty.

2. Perform Printer Maintenance

Clean Printhead:

  • Go to the HP Smart app> Printer Maintenance> Clean Printhead.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to clean the printhead. This can often resolve issues with missing colors.

Align Printheads:

  • In the HP Smart app, navigate to Printer Maintenance> Align Printheads.
  • Follow the instructions to align the printheads. Misalignment can cause color printing issues.

3. Update Printer Drivers and Firmware

Check for Driver Updates:

  • Go to System Preferences> Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Options & Supplies> Driver. Ensure you have the latest driver installed.

Update Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website and check for firmware updates for your HP OfficeJet 8035.
  • Download and install any available updates.

4. Check Print Settings and Color Management

Adjust Print Settings:

  • Open the document or image you are trying to print.
  • Go to File> Print and select your HP OfficeJet 8035.

Color Options:

  • Click on Show Details (if available).
  • Ensure that Color Matching is set to Automatic or ColorSync.

Select Correct Printer Profile:

  • Go to Printer Features and check the Color options. Ensure Color is selected instead of Grayscale.

5. Check for Paper and Media Type

Paper Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper type selected in the print settings matches the paper loaded in your printer.

Change Paper Type:

  • Try printing on a different type of paper or a different paper brand to rule out paper quality issues.

6. Reset Printer and Reconfigure

Power Cycle Printer:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reconfigure Printer:

  • Go to System Preferences> Printers & Scanners.
  • Remove your printer by selecting it and clicking the - button.
  • Click the + button to add the printer back and follow the setup instructions.

7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (for Mac)

  • While HP Print and Scan Doctor is mainly for Windows, you might consider trying similar utilities or apps that offer diagnostics and repair tools for macOS.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Lizurds,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the cartridges in your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 are stuck and causing an issue. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this problem:

Steps to Fix Stuck Cartridges

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Power off the printer using the power button. Unplug it from the wall to ensure it's completely powered down.

Open the Printer:

  • Open the printer’s top cover or access door where the cartridges are located. This is usually where you can access the printhead and cartridges.

Manually Move the Carriage:

  • Gently try to move the carriage (the part that holds the cartridges) to the center of the printer. It should move freely, but if it’s stuck, don’t force it.

Check the Cartridges:

  • Inspect the cartridges to ensure they are properly seated. If any are popped out, carefully reinsert them into their slots.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Look inside the printer for any paper jams, debris, or obstructions that might be preventing the carriage from moving. Remove any visible obstructions.

Reset the Cartridges:

  • If the cartridges are not seated correctly, remove each cartridge and then reinsert them firmly. Ensure they click into place.

Power On and Test:

  • Plug the printer back in and power it on. The printer should perform a self-test and attempt to align the cartridges. Check if the issue is resolved.

Clean the Cartridges and Printhead:

  • If the problem persists, the cartridges or printhead might be dirty. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to gently clean the cartridges and printhead. Be sure to follow the HP instructions for cleaning.

Additional Tips

  • Manual Handling: Be careful when handling the cartridges and carriage to avoid damaging any components.
  • Consult the Manual: Refer to the user manual for specific instructions related to cartridge issues for your printer model.

Refer to this document: HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Bec_04-,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your printer displays an orange blinking light and reports an error that prevents printing, it generally indicates a hardware or configuration issue that needs to be addressed. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

1. Check for Common Issues

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer’s access doors and remove any jammed paper. Look inside the printer for any obstructions and clear them.

Check Ink or Toner Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the ink or toner cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink or toner.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Refer to the printer’s display or control panel for any specific error messages or codes. This information can often direct you to the problem.

2. Power Cycle the Printer

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.

Unplug the Printer:

  • Disconnect the printer from the power source by unplugging it from the electrical outlet.

Wait:

  • Wait for about 60 seconds to allow any residual power to dissipate.

Plug It Back In:

  • Reconnect the printer to the power source and turn it back on.

3. Perform Printer Maintenance

Clean the Printhead:

  • If your printer has a printhead cleaning option, run the cleaning cycle. This can usually be found in the printer’s maintenance settings on the control panel or in the printer software.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the printer manufacturer’s website to check for any available firmware updates and install them if necessary.

4. Reset Printer Settings

  1. Factory Reset:
    • If the problem persists, you might need to perform a factory reset. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Re: Officejet 8600 Windows 11 PC won't print color on Microsoft Word and Excel

$

HI @Trample,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Given the thorough troubleshooting steps you've already taken for your OfficeJet 8600, it's clear that the issue is particularly related to printing color from Microsoft Word and Excel. Since other programs can print in color without issues, the problem likely lies in the software or settings specific to Word and Excel. Here are additional steps to address the issue:

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

1. Check Printer Preferences in Microsoft Office

  • Open the document in Microsoft Word or Excel.
  • Go to File > Print (or press Ctrl + P).
  • Click on Printer Properties or Preferences. Look for any settings related to color. Ensure that Color is selected, and not Grayscale or Black & White.
  • Sometimes, the color settings are in the Advanced tab of the printer properties. Check there to ensure that color printing is enabled.

2. Reset Printer Preferences:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on the OfficeJet 8600 and select Printing Preferences.
  • Check the color settings here, and if you find an option to restore default settings, use it.

3. Check Document Settings

  • In Word or Excel, go to File > Options > Advanced.
  • Scroll down to the Print section and ensure that Print in color is selected.:
  • Sometimes, color settings are document-specific. Ensure the document itself is set up to print in color.

4. Update or Repair Microsoft Office

  • Ensure that your Microsoft Office suite is up-to-date. Go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • Find Microsoft Office, right-click, and select Change.
  • Choose the Repair option and follow the prompts.

5. Test with Different Files

  • Try printing different files, including new ones created from scratch, to see if the issue persists across all documents or just specific ones.
  • Test printing from other file types, such as PDFs, to see if the issue is isolated to Word and Excel.

6. Check for Software Conflicts

  • Sometimes, security software can interfere with printing functions. Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall software to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Check if any third-party printer management software or plugins could be causing conflicts.

7. Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Remove the printer from Devices and Printers and uninstall the printer driver software from Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Reinstall the latest printer drivers from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Re: printer error code for Envy 4500 and says it's offline

$

Hi @Prof77,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code OXC4EB827F HWLMICC12 C on your HP Envy 4500 printer usually indicates a hardware issue related to the printhead or ink cartridges. The printer also showing as "offline" adds another layer of complexity. Here’s how you can address these issues:

1. Troubleshoot the Error Code

Check and Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait about 60 seconds.
  • Open the printer’s access door to reveal the ink cartridges.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and then reinsert them firmly into their slots. Ensure they click into place securely.
  • Gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and in the printer using a soft, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water. Let everything dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check the Printhead

  • Remove the printhead if possible (refer to the printer's manual for instructions).
  • Check the printhead for any visible damage or clogging. Clean the printhead contacts gently with a dry, soft cloth.
  • Reinstall the printhead and test if the error is resolved.

2. Resolve the Offline Issue

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or is connected to your Wi-Fi network if it is a wireless printer.
  • Restart both your printer and computer. Also, restart your router if you’re using a wireless connection.
  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your HP Envy 4500 printer, and select See what's printing. Make sure the printer is set as the default printer and is not paused or set to offline.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP Envy 4500.
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall the existing HP printer drivers.
  • Install the downloaded drivers and follow the setup instructions.

Printer Software Settings

  • Open the HP Smart app (if installed) and check if it can detect your printer. Use it to troubleshoot and potentially resolve connection issues.
  • If the printer has a display, navigate to the network settings and ensure it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

3. Reset Printer to Factory Settings:

  • Refer to the printer’s manual or the HP website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset. This can often resolve persistent hardware and connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
