Need to click OK to print each and every print job

I operate a help desk at my retirement community of 500 residents, 100 of which have HP printers.  A number of the residents who had been using the Instant Ink  service have elected for different reasons to discontinue the service.  So, they sign in to their Instant Ink account, and cancel the service.

 

They then go out and purchase non-Instant Ink cartridges, and install them in their printer.  

 

Now, every time they print a document, the printer display screen gives a message "Connect printer to update HP Instant Ink status".  So, in order to print their document they have to select ok. 

 

I have tried to help by (1) going to the printer settings and doing a Factory Reset, then (2) in the settings on their PC I delete the printer, and then re-install the printer.

 

However, no matter what I do I can not get the printer to "forgot" its Instant Ink settings.  For every print job I get the error message indicated above, and have to click ok on the printer display screen to be able to print.

 

Somehow the printer will never forget it once used Instant Ink, even without Instant Ink cartridges installed, and the service canceled. 

 

This is not just for one person, one printer.  It is for all of the folks here who have decided to cancel their Instant Ink service.

 

Can anyone help?

Has anything changed? Did your get a new WiFi router? If you check the setup from the control panel of the printer do you see the setup for wireless? Failures are pretty rare, I would lean more to a configuration issue.

If you connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable do you get the sound for USB? If not then that and the black screen would suggest a bad main board.

Hello. Replaced cartridges, changed paper. After that, the printer stopped printing at all or printed 1 page in 20 minutes. The indicator is blue in the middle. What to do?

HP Laserjet 1217nfw MFP keeps giving me "error status" and I cannot print.  Tried everything including rebooting to no avail.   Would like to add that just prior to this problem we had something weird where it shifted to "Fax" mode and wouldn't print, so we thought we figured it out.  Switched back to printer mode (as default) but still wouldn't print.  Just "error status" all the time.

Great 🙂

 

1. Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2. Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3. Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4. If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values here or take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in private.

Unable to print

Hello, 

 

My HP Deskjet 3639 does not print my files even when connected with USB cable I get an error message for printing a single A4 page.. There is paper a half full cartridge. 

 

It basically says "error, ongoing printing".. when I run a diagnostic nothing more. 

 

 

Any ideas ?

Printers erroneously showing as disconnected and out of paper

We've got a few of these printers (8710 and 477DW), spread around different locations (entirely different networks, even in different countries).

We've started getting a couple of strange errors on them:


Computers randomly start to disconnect from the printer. We can ping the printer from the PC, and the printer is still working from all other workstations, but shows disconnected on one PC. The only way to make it appear connected again is to remove the printer and add it again. Once this starts happening, it seems to happen fairly frequently (to the same few PCs).

We also seem to get a lot of "out of paper" errors. Again, this seems to be specific PCs, where it happens once then seems to keep repeating. All other workstations can print just fine (i.e. it says "out of paper" on one PC, but we can print from the PC on the next desk, plugged in to the same switch, on the same vlan, same PC hardware, same Windows image, etc...). Sometimes resetting the print spooler solves this, other times we need to remove the device and add it again.

 

We're using the latest basic HP drivers.

JSL Ancient gets destroyed when printing on HP Color Laserjet Pro M454

When I print a document using the JSL Ancient True Type font, on the PDF it looks perfect, but when printed it gets destroyed, the shape of some characters mostly capital letters like Q, C, N, O, E, N, S and others. Attached you can find the comparison with the printed version on the left and the PDF version on the right. Why is the printer doing this? Is there an option to rasterize all the fonts before being sent to the printer? Looks like the printer is the one doing the raster and not properly.

 

I don't have this problem with tens of other fonts, only with JSL.

Purchased refurbished HP Envy Photo 7855 with no setup cartridge - need to bypass

I purchased a refurbished HP Envy Photo 7855 from Amazon that came with no printer cartridges. I purchased cartridges and inserted them but now it says "Use SETUP cartridge that came with your printer." None came with mine. How can I override this error? Thank you.

Every time I'm trying to print I have to wait while 1st page is done and printer stuck on page 2 with E2 error.

I'm pressing button with arrow on the page and printing goes on.

But why I cannot send job to printer and walk away. I have to spend a time to watch if printer feeling fine............ So sad! My old HP was without this feature.


HP Officejet pro 6978 won't print Cricut boarder

I'm creating custom earring card holders on design space by Cricut. I sent the file to my HP Printer the first time - and it printed everything perfectly. The black boarder and the images inside the boarder came out great.

After that, I resent the same project  to the HP printer again -- this time, it printed the objects inside the boarder just fine - but the boarder now comes out super blotchy and missing color at various areas. 

I've tried cleaning, realigning, and the cleaning smudge option. I also printed a test after cleaning - and everything comes out just fine... no smudges, all colors are solid, lettering is perfect. Also, tried removing the black cartridge and reinstalling..

However, when I tried to reprint the same project the 3rd, 4th and the 5th time, the black boarder still comes out blotchy and missing color in various locations 

Any other suggestions

If other fonts work, look at the possibility that this particular font has flaws that become obvious during printing. The printer is pretty much going to reproduce the information it gets, to the limit of it's resolution. If all other fonts print fine it points more to an issue with the font than a failure of the printer. 

My printer worked fine with just black ink. I replaced all the ink colors and black. Will not print

Hello,

 

When the E2 error is displayed on the printer's control panel or on the computer screen, this indicates that the paper settings and the paper loaded in the input tray do not match.

 

The paper size loaded in the input tray does not match the paper size set in the paper settings.

  • Press the Cancel () button on the printer control panel, load the appropriate paper or change the paper size in the software, and then restart the print job. For more information, see HP print settings guide.

If in the following steps you do not find what is titled, please just skip this part.

If the issue continues, please uninstall and reinstall the printer as follows:
1. Uninstall printing software:

  1. Unplug the USB cable at the back of the printer, if necessary.
  2. On the keyboard, simultaneously tap the Windows flag and the Rkey. The Run window opens.
  3. Type appwiz.cpl, then OK. The Programs and Features window opens.
  4. Click the right mouse button on HP Smart Tank 510 series Basic Software, then Uninstall and Yes.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstall of the printer.
  6. Restart the computer.

2. Launch the registry editor:

  1. On the keyboard, simultaneously tap the Windows flag and the Rkey. The Run window opens.
  2. Type regedit, then OK. The registry editor opens.
  3. Develop HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, click with the right mouse button on Hewlett-Packard and Delete. (If the PC is HP-branded, develop Hewlett-Packard and remove Digital Imaging)

3. Delete the HP Smart Tank 510 series folder in the way:

  • C: \Program Files\HP
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\HP

4. Rename folder 3 in 3_old in the path below (a restart may be required):

  • C:\Windows\System32\spool-drivers\x64.
  • C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\W32X86.

NOTE: If the file refuses this action do as follows:

  • On the keyboard, tap the Windows and Xkeys simultaneously.
  • Click Command Prompt (admin) or Windows PowerShell (admin), then click Yes.
  • Type net stop spooler, then press Enter key.
  • Rename the file.
  • Type net start spooler, then press Enter key.

5. Launch a new printer installation with the HP Smart Tank 510 Wireless All-in-One series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
