My Officejet 7310 All-in-one has an intermittent fault. Every few months it reports a paper jam (there isn't one) and displays an animation telling me to remove the duplexer at the back of the printer and remove paper (which isn't there). Once it's come up, the fault seems persistent.
Every time I've got it working again, the result has been hard to associate with a specific intervention - manually progressing the feeder rollers might have been the solution, or powering-down, or blowing air through the duplex mechanism to flush out any stray fluff might have done it, or ... I've never quite been sure which step did the trick. It can take a few hours' bite out of my working day before I get it back to functionality, and the result always feels a bit voodoo.
If you have experience of this specific fault, have you got a robust approach to getting things back up and running?
