Help please... Just got the 7610 wide-format printer a few days ago, and installed everything fine on win8.1 from the CD, and selected the wireless option.
All is fine unless i try to print a full page photo, or something other than a small photo or document. The printer either stops printing before it's finished and/or a useless error message displays on the computer screen saying "Error printing on HP Officejet 7610 Series (Network)". With no other info.
Sometimes the full page photo prints completely, but after a delay of about 10 seconds, the error message pops up on the computer. It's as if the computer didn't receive a "finished printing" status message from the printer. Maybe after a timeout, it displays the message, assuming there was some error with the printing. Basically, the handshaking seems flawed.
I've tried printing from multiple programs, such as Picasa and Irfanview. I've turned off my Anti-virus software too. I've enabled both public and private Network Discovery, and Printer and file sharing too.
But.... if I go to control panel > printers and devices > and select "Add Printer". And add another 7610 printer (which only lets you select the "7610 Series Class Driver" driver), this second printer (with the "Class Driver") will not get the error. However, that printer doesn't have all the paper selection options and a few other 7610 printer features. This second printer uses a "TCP/IP Port", not a "WSD" port as the (network) install uses. So the issue is somewhere with the WSD port / web services device protocol, that the HP printer installation from the CD uses.
The 7610 (wireless network - using WSD port) printer driver seems to have a major problem. PLEASE HELP. I can't even print the large 13x19 images which i got this printer for, since it wont print a full large photo. The wireless handshaking or protocol seems terribly flawed. I'm using 802.11 WPA-PSK with high signal quality (top level 5).
Thanks for any immediate help or clues. I've gone through all the normal stuff. verified all the software is up to date. There is no firmware download available, so the firmware in the printer is the latest. powered off and on all 3 devices (printer, router, pc).
...edit... The only solution i've come up with is to go to control panel > view printers and devices > right click on the printer, select Printer Properties > Ports tab, and change the port from "WSD" to one of the unused "TCP/IP" ports. That causes a second printer to be added to the list of printers. This way, i have the media and paper size options available. But i fear that i've lost all the features that come with using the WSD web services device port, such as scanning, etc.
