Hi @932974,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The E4 error on your HP Smart Tank 520 All-in-One printer indicates a paper jam, which can be either real or false. Here's how to resolve it:
1. Cancel the Print Job
- Press the Cancel button on the printer to stop the current job.
2. Check All Jam Locations
Look for jammed paper or debris in these areas:
- Input Tray: Remove any visible paper. Do not remove the tray shield.
- Output Tray: Gently pull out any stuck paper.
- Printhead Access Area:
- Open the front door.
- Slide the print carriage if needed.
- Remove any jammed paper or obstructions.
- Ensure the printhead cover is properly closed.
- Bottom of the Printer:
- Turn off and unplug the printer.
- Open the bottom access door.
- Remove any jammed paper or debris.
3. Check for False Jams
- Even if no paper is visible, dust or small scraps can trigger the sensor.
- Use a flashlight to inspect tight areas.
4. Restart the Printer
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try printing a test page.
