@duncan0153, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is experiencing a common issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve it:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the front panel and check for any paper jams.
  • Remove any jammed paper carefully.

Reset the Printer:

  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to reset the printer.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink.
  • Sometimes, low ink levels can cause the printer to only print test pages.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.

Clear Print Spooler:

  • On your computer, press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter.
  • Find "Print Spooler" in the list, right-click it, and select "Stop".
  • Open the Run dialog again, type spool, and press Enter.
  • Go to the PRINTERS folder and delete all files inside.
  • Go back to the Services window, right-click "Print Spooler", and select "Start"

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
