The error C4EBA341 on an HP printer — often accompanied by a solid blue screen, flashing buttons (Home, X, arrows, Wi-Fi), and cartridges not centring— usually points to a critical carriage or ink system failure. This can sometimes be triggered by a jam, an ink spill, or a corrupted startup routine. It's especially frustrating when the printer won't stay off and you can’t access the ink carriage.
Try These First
1. Force a Full Reset
This sometimes helps break the endless error loop:
- Unplug the printer from the wall AND the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- While unplugged, press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds to drain residual charge.
- Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (no surge protector).
- Power on and see if the screen clears.
If the printer turns itself on again and the error persists, move to the next step.
2. Check for Hidden Paper Jam or Gear Block
- Flip the printer over and inspect all access panels, back doors, and the bottom area for torn paper, ink spills, or obstructions in the gear train.
- Use canned air or a soft brush to clear out debris.
- Reassemble and try restarting.
3. Gently Try to Unlock the Cartridge Carriage (Manual Override)
If the cartridge carriage is stuck at the far right, you might still be able to slide it manually, carefully:
⚠️Do this only if the printer is powered off and unplugged to avoid damaging gears or getting shocked.
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Shine a flashlight inside to see if something is visibly jammed.
- Place two fingers gently on the black plastic carriage (where ink goes) and try to slide it to the middle, very slowly and gently.
- You may feel resistance — don’t force it hard.
- If it moves, check for paper shreds, spilled ink, or broken gear parts behind it.
- Close the lid and try powering on again.
If the carriage won't budge or is grinding, it could be a hardware fault.
