Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E3 error on your HP ENVY 6062 printer generally indicates a carriage jam— meaning the printhead/cartridge carriage can't move freely inside the printer. The fact that all lights flash afterward usually signals a general printer error due to the same issue not being resolved properly.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help clear the E3 error and stop the flashing lights:
Turn Off and Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait 2-3 minutes.
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or power strips).
- Plug the cord back into the printer.
- Power it on.
Check for Obstructions Inside
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Manually move the cartridge carriage (left to right). It should move freely.
- Use a flashlight to look inside for:
- Bits of torn paper
- Packaging tape
- Dust or debris
- Clean the carriage rail with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
Remove and Inspect Cartridges
- With the printer on, open the access door.
- Remove the cartridges.
- Check for:
- Ink buildup
- Bent or damaged electrical contacts
- Protective tape (if accidentally left on)
- Gently clean the gold contacts on both the cartridges and the carriage with a soft cloth (no alcohol).
- Reinstall the cartridges firmly.
Update or Reinstall Firmware
If your printer connects to Wi-Fi:
- Use the HP Smart app or visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads page to check for firmware updates.
Run Printer Self-Test
Once the error clears (or intermittently clears), quickly:
- Press and hold the Cancel + Wireless buttons together until the lights start flashing. This may print a diagnostic page and help reset internal error logs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
