@Steveski54, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Printer Failure" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e typically means there's a serious internal error, possibly related to the printhead, firmware, or internal electronics. Since you've already tried rebooting and checking for jams, here are some additional steps that might help resolve the issue:

Reset the Printer (Full Power Reset)

This helps drain residual power and reset internal sensors:

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. While it's on, unplug the power cable from the printer.
  3. Unplug the other end from the wall socket.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug it back in directly to a wall socket, not a surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer and see if the error clears.

Check for Hardware Damage

Open the front cover and inspect:

  • Printhead carriage– is it stuck or jammed?
  • Ink cartridges– ensure they’re properly seated and not leaking.
  • Look for any visible ink spillage or hardware damage.

Update or Reinstall Firmware (if accessible)

If you can still access the printer menu:

  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  • Alternatively, update via the HP Smart App (if the printer is discoverable).

If you can’t access the menu, you can skip this step.

Access HP Print and Scan Doctor

Since you mentioned HP Scan shows a port error:

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor on a Windows PC.
  • This tool will attempt to fix communication and system-related issues.
  • If it can’t detect the printer or returns a port or driver error, there may be deeper hardware trouble.

Try USB Connection (if using Wi-Fi)

  • Disconnect the Wi-Fi setup.
  • Connect the printer via USB to your PC.
  • Check if it gets detected and bypasses the error.

Perform a Semi-Full Reset (Service Menu)

Try entering the Service Menu:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold Back and Cancel buttons together.
  3. While holding, turn the printer on.
  4. You should see a service menu. Navigate carefully to Reset > Semi-Full Reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
