Hi @NClement2108, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The green flashing bar with a red "X" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 usually indicates a serious error or connectivity issue. Try the following steps to troubleshoot:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Check if the issue is resolved.
Check for Paper Jams or Internal Errors
- Open all printer doors and inspect for any jammed paper or obstructions.
- Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges.
- If there's a printhead issue, try removing the printhead and reinserting it.
Verify Printer Status on the Control Panel
- If you see any error codes or messages, note them down.
- Try printing a self-test page:
From the Printer Control Panel → Setup → Reports → Print Status Report.
If this fails, the issue may be hardware-related.
Reconnect the Printer
- If connected via Wi-Fi, restart the router and ensure the printer is on the same network.
- If using USB, try a different port or cable.
Update/Reinstall Drivers
- Download and install the latest drivers from HP's website.
- Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
- Expand Printers, right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your PC and reinstall the drivers.
Perform a Factory Reset (if necessary)
- From Printer Control Panel → Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Defaults
(Note: This will erase all settings).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
