Method 1: Cleaning the Printhead Through Software
- Click the “Start” button on your computer and access the Control Panel.
- Navigate to “Printers and Scanners” and select your HP printer.
- Click the “Properties” button, or locate the printer icon in the system settings to view your printer’s status and ink levels.
- If ink cartridges are full but print quality is poor, select “Printing Preferences.”
- Choose the “Service” tab, then “Printer Services.”
- Click “Clean Printheads” to initiate the automated cleaning process.
Method 2: Manually Cleaning the Printhead
If the software method doesn’t resolve the issue, try this manual cleaning process:
- Turn on your printer and open the access door.
- Wait for the cartridge carriage to center, then unplug the printer.
- Carefully remove each ink cartridge.
- Clean the cartridge contacts with a lint-free microfiber cloth.
- Gently clean the printhead contacts inside the printer using a printer cleaning kit to dab any excess cleaning solution and absorb ink.
- Allow components to dry for 10 minutes before reassembling.
- Plug in the printer and run the initialization process.
Important: Be gentle when handling printheads and cartridges to avoid damage. Use only water or approved printhead cleaning solutions.
