If your HP LaserJet MFP M140w printer is not printing, try these troubleshooting steps.
Basic Checks
- Ensure the printer is turned on and not in sleep mode.
- Check if there are any error messages on the printer or HP Smart app.
- Confirm the paper tray has paper and the toner cartridge is properly installed.
Check Connection
- If using USB, make sure the cable is securely connected.
- If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the correct network.
- Print a Wireless Network Test Report by pressing and holding the Wireless button (⚡) and Cancel button (X) together for 5 seconds.
- Check if the printer’s IP address is valid (e.g., 192.168.x.x).
Restart Everything
- Turn off the printer, computer, and router.
- Wait 2 minutes, then turn them back on.
Check Printer Status on Computer
For Windows
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the HP LaserJet MFP M140w and ensure it’s set as Default Printer.
- Click See what's printing→ Cancel all documents.
- Right-click the printer again → Printer Properties→ Print a Test Page.
For Mac
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer → Click Open Print Queue→ Cancel any pending jobs.
- Try removing and re-adding the printer.
