Hi @renranita

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer is stuck in a "busy" state, and you're unable to print because it’s not responding correctly. This can be caused by several issues, but here are some steps you can take to try and fix the problem:

1. Cancel All Print Jobs

Even if no print jobs are actively showing in your queue, there could still be a stuck job that is preventing the printer from working properly.

  1. On your computer, go to the Printers & Scanners settings (Win + I > Devices> Printers & Scanners).
  2. Select your printer and click Open queue.
  3. In the print queue, look for any jobs listed. If there are any stuck jobs, click on them and select Cancel.
  4. After clearing the queue, restart your computer and printer to reset both.

2. Restart the Printer

A simple restart can sometimes resolve this issue.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the busy light is still on.

3. Check for a Paper Jam

Even if there isn’t an obvious paper jam, the printer may be showing as busy due to a paper stuck somewhere in the internal mechanisms.

  • Check the printer for any paper stuck inside or around the rollers.
  • Carefully open the printer’s paper tray and any compartments that might hide paper paths, and remove any jammed paper.
  • Close everything back up and try printing again.

4. Reset the Print Spooler

The print spooler service on your computer might be causing the printer to be stuck in a busy state.

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll down and find Print Spooler.
  • Right-click on Print Spooler and select Restart.
  • After restarting, try printing again.

5. Disconnect and Reconnect the Printer

It’s possible that the printer is stuck due to a network or communication issue.

  1. If the printer is connected via USB, unplug it, wait a moment, and plug it back in.
  2. If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, disconnect it from the network and reconnect it. You can usually do this through the printer’s settings or control panel.

I hope this helps.
