Hi @StellaRosebud,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Product. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to the issue.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 is experiencing an issue where the scanner is cycling on its own and sending "scan successfully sent" messages, even though nothing is on the glass. This could be caused by a few potential issues:

1. Check for Stuck Scan Jobs

Sometimes, print or scan jobs can get stuck in the queue or the scanner may keep cycling if there is an incomplete task.

  • Clear the print queue:
    • Go to Devices and Printers in Windows or Printers & Scanners on your Mac, and check if there are any pending scan jobs.
    • Clear any that are stuck.

2. Check for Software Issues or Misconfigurations

The issue might be coming from software or a misconfiguration on your printer or computer.

  • Restart HP Smart or any relevant scanning software.
  • Reset or Update the Printer: You could perform a factory reset on the printer to ensure no corrupt settings are causing the issue.
    • Go to Printer Settings > Restore Defaults (this may vary depending on your model).

3. Disable Any Unnecessary Scan-to Features

The printer might be set up to automatically scan to email or a cloud service.

  • Check the Scan-to settings on the printer's control panel:
    • On the printer screen, go to Setup > Scan > Scan to Email or Scan to Network Folder.
    • Disable any scan-to features that are set up or check if there's a preconfigured schedule for scanning.

4. Check for External Devices or Apps

The issue could also be triggered by software or devices that are connected to the printer or controlling it via the network. Disconnect any computers or devices that may be sending scan commands or using the printer’s scanning function.

  • Temporarily disable remote scanning from apps or third-party devices.

5. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

Sometimes firmware issues can cause unexpected behavior. Make sure your printer is running the latest firmware:

  • Go to the HP website or use HP Smart to check for updates.

6. Perform a Hard Reset

If unplugging didn’t work, try performing a more thorough reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from both the power source and any network connection.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

7. Check the HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

If you use the HP Smart app, check if any scanning profiles or tasks are active within the app. There might be a profile causing the unwanted scanning actions.

8. Check the Scanner Glass

Ensure there's no light or dust on the scanner glass that could be falsely triggering scans.

Let me know how these steps go, and we can proceed further if needed!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
