Hi @Kd3835,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0xc4eb8000 on HP printers generally indicates a hardware issue, often related to the printer's printhead, ink system, or sometimes firmware. Here are steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power source.
  • Disconnect any USB or network cables connected to the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or extension cord) and turn it back on.

Check the Ink Cartridges/Printhead

  • Open the printer's access door to check the ink cartridges.
  • Remove the cartridges and then carefully reinstall them, ensuring they are properly seated.
  • If your printer has a removable printhead, remove it and then reseat it.
  • After reinstalling, close the access door and turn the printer back on.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP's official website and check if there is a firmware update for your printer model.
  • Download and install the firmware if available, as it might fix errors like this one.

Perform a Factory Reset (if possible)

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings> Restore Factory Defaults (exact path may vary depending on your printer model).
  • Confirm the reset, and once it’s complete, set up the printer again from scratch.

Clean the Encoder Strip

Sometimes, a dirty or dislodged encoder strip (the thin plastic strip behind the printhead carriage) can cause hardware errors.

  • Turn off and unplug the printer.
  • Carefully open the printer to access the encoder strip.
  • Use a lint-free cloth with a bit of water to clean the strip gently.
  • Let it dry, then turn on the printer again.

Check for Obstructions

  • Open the printer and ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions preventing the printhead from moving.
  • Gently move the printhead manually to ensure it isn’t stuck.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
