Hi @Kentucky46 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the leak from the black cartridge might have caused an issue with the printer’s internal components.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the "printer failure" message:
Check for Residue or Leaks:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the printer and inspect the area around the ink cartridges and printhead for any ink residue or leakage.
- Gently clean any spilled ink with a lint-free cloth or paper towel.
Inspect and Clean the Printhead:
- If your printer has a removable printhead, carefully remove it following the manufacturer's instructions.
- Clean the printhead contacts and the area inside the printer where the printhead seats. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol if needed.
Reinstall Cartridges:
- Remove all ink cartridges from the printer, including the recently replaced black cartridge.
- Reinstall the cartridges one by one, making sure each is seated properly.
Reset the Printer:
- With the printer turned off and unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. This can help clear any residual power and reset internal components.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes updates can resolve printer issues.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If the problem persists, there might be internal damage or hardware issues.
