I found this thread as I am having the same issues with my P1006. It has worked perfectly for years. All of a sudden, it quits working and gives me the same problems as those posted in the earlier threads.
I changed out USB cables, used different USB ports, plugged it into another computer. Nothing worked. I tried your two suggestions and neither worked. I can remove the printer and about 50% of the time when I reinstall it I can print a test message but can't print anything else. It just sits in the queue.
There is obviously a software issue since multiple people began having this issue with otherwise previously working printers.
Got any other ideas?
