Thanks for your response back! I called HP tech support today and was told this is a hardware issue when using Windows 8.1. My printer was originally hooked up to an older Dell using Windows NT (SP3). I then purchased a new Dell desktop and hooked my C7250 to it and it worked about six months error free, then started giving issues. Once the pump motor stalled error showed its ugly face my printer has not recovered. HP stated that if I hook it back up to a system using Windows NT it should clear and work again. I have yet to try this.
HP stated to purchase a new printer that could handle the compatibility issues with Windows 8.1. Doing further investigation today there seems to be a lot of issues with the compatibilty running Windows 8 and 8.1 with many printers. HP recommended I buy the HP 6700 Premium. But after reading the reviews on that printer today it's not what I'm looking for. If you want a decent printer that just prints I might go with the HP 8100. Costco has it for $149.99 and HP has it on sale now for $99.99, and shipped free. At this point I'm undecided...Good luck-
