Hi @DC958,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps to troubleshoot:

Power Cycle Everything

  1. Turn off the printer, computer, and Wi-Fi router.
  2. Unplug the printer for 60 seconds.
  3. Restart your Wi-Fi router and wait for it to fully power on.
  4. Turn on the printer and ensure it's connected to Wi-Fi.
  5. Restart your computer and try printing again.

Check the Printer Connection

Wi-Fi Connection:

  • On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
  • Make sure it’s connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page to verify the IP address.

USB Connection:

  • If using USB, try a different USB port or cable.
  • Go to Device Manager > Printers and see if your printer is listed.

Run HP Print & Scan Doctor

  1. Download HP Print & Scan Doctor from HP’s website.
  2. Open the tool and select your printer.
  3. Click Fix Printing to diagnose issues.

Remove & Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer and select Remove device.
  3. Download the latest drivers from HP’s official site and reinstall them.

Manually Set Printer’s IP Address (For Wi-Fi Issues)

  1. Open a web browser and enter your printer’s IP address (from the Network Configuration Page).
  2. Go to Network > Wireless and assign a static IP.
  3. Add the printer manually to your PC using:
    • Windows: Control Panel > Devices & Printers > Add a Printer > Use TCP/IP Address
    • Mac: System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Add Printer

If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

Hi @msgramsci,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check the Power Source

🔹 Try a different power outlet (avoid using power strips).
🔹 Check the power cable – Ensure it's firmly connected to the printer and wall socket.
🔹 Use a different power cable (if you have one compatible).

2. Perform a Power Reset

Unplug the printer from power.
Press and hold the Power button for 15–30 seconds.
Plug the printer back in and try turning it on.

3. Check for a Faulty Power Adapter

  • If the printer has an external power adapter, see if the LED indicator on the adapter turns on.
  • If there’s no light or the adapter feels too hot, it may be faulty.

4. Inspect for Overheating Issues

  • If your printer was running for a long time, let it cool down for 10–15 minutes before trying again.

Let me know how it goes.

@DH3324, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Since your HP OfficeJet Pro prints from other wireless devices but not from your HP desktop, the issue seems to be specific to your Microsoft Word.

First, try printing a different file type, like a PDF or Notepad document, to see if the problem is only with Word.

Next, check if your printer is set as the default by going to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and ensuring it’s selected. You can also try printing from Word as an image by going to File > Print > Printer Properties > Advanced and selecting "Print as Image." If the issue persists, repairing or reinstalling Microsoft Office might help, as corrupted Office files can sometimes cause printing problems.

Updating your printer drivers from HP Supportis another important step to rule out software conflicts.

The issue could also be related to security settings on your user profile, which might have changed. You can try creating a new user profile, logging in with the new account, and reinstalling the printer.

Alternatively, you can turn off User Account Control (UAC) and restart your PC. To do this, open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button, going to Control Panel, and searching for UAC. Click Change User Account Control settings, move the slider to Never notify, and click OK. If prompted for an administrator password, enter it, then restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Let me know if this helps! 😊

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution! It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Hi @Talford,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

This error typically occurs due to various issues, such as cartridge problems, printhead issues, or printer firmware problems. Here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check and Replace Ink Cartridges

Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges as non-HP or refilled cartridges cannot guarantee quality.

Check the Estimated Ink Levels:

  • On the printer control panel, touch the Ink Level Indicator icon Ink Level Indicator.
  • Replace any low or empty cartridges. Follow these steps to replace ink cartridges:
    1. Turn on the printer.
    2. Open the ink cartridge access door.
    3. Remove and replace any low or empty cartridges.
    4. Close the ink cartridge access door.

 Clean the Printhead

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.
  2. On the printer control panel, go to Setup and select Tools, then choose Clean Printhead.
  3. This process may have to be repeated several times if the printhead is badly clogged.

Let me know how it goes.

@NVDesertRat, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your HP Color LaserJet Pro is having two separate issues:

Tray 1 Prompt: This usually happens if the printer thinks the paper type or size doesn't match what's set in the printer settings. Check Printer Preferences on your computer and make sure the paper size/type matches what’s loaded in Tray 1. Also, go to Settings > Paper Handling on the printer itself and confirm the correct tray is selected.

If the print is shifting to the right, try these fixes:

Ensure the document is set to the correct paper size (e.g., A4, Letter) in the print settings.

Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Calibration/Cleaning and run the alignment process.

Misfeeds can cause alignment issues, so inspect the paper path for obstructions.

Give these a shot and let me know how it goes! 😊

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

The printer and computer ( notebook) are both on the same network.

I have turned printer and computer off and on multiple times.

I have turned the router off and on several times.

There are no documents in queue.

I AM able to print a document using HP SMART.  but only if I first convert it to pdf.

Seems like an unnecessary step
