Hello Cass,
Thank you so much for your help on dealing with Kaspersky.
I've printed out the instructions from the 'How to configure Trusted applications in Kaspersky...' site and am going to see if I can apply them to make it trust the printer software.
Thank you, too, for the list of ports for me to use if I have any more trouble.
By the way, after *finally* receiving a reply from Kaspersky regarding the results of my running their diagnostic program, they told me that the program had detected remnants of another AV program on my HDDs and that I should use the attached 'removal tool', called "AVCleaner" to remove them. So I did that and Kaspersky promptly told me that some of its files were corrupted! I had to uninstall/re-install it to regain my firewall and AV functions. It seems that the 'removal tool' was a bit too enthusiastic!
As for the problem my wife had with HPP&SDR, I'm not sure what she did to cause the scanning problem. She just said she couldn't stop it running. Interestingly after that event and for some unknown reason, HPP&SDR has tried to run every time the computer is rebooted! Not wanting a repeat of whatever had happened, I deleted it from the startup routine.
All seems to be well (fingers firmly crossed!) for both computers as I write this but be assured you will be the first to hear if the L7780's software gets scrambled again!
Again, many thanks, Cass, for your invaluable help.
All the best and kind regards,
Mark
