Apologies for jumping in unannounced.

I am sorry this happened to you.

Scam.

"Discovering" a trojan horse on your computer is a trick to scare you into cooperating and giving thieves your personal information, access to your computer, your money.

You might want to change whatever you can to prevent this from re-occuring.  The thieves now have your information and will likely be contacting you again down the road.  At the least, you are now on the list of people who might fall for another scam -- advertisers are not the only ones that share information about consumers.

Next time, open the website of the company with whom you are doing business and find contact information on the site.

If you paid by credit card, check with your banking institution to see if you have any options regarding having been victimized.  Worth the call, at least.

Thank you for participating in the HP Community Forum.
