Hello VisionAire,
I found the original L7700-series installation disc but when I tried to run it I got the message: "A newer version of this software is already installed..." and it gave only the option to 'Finish'.
Should I therefore download a current version and install that? By the way, whenever I download the HP L7700-series drivers, unless I run them immediately from MS IE (as opposed to saving them to HDD and then trying to run them), I get a message about 'Administrator Privileges' - although I AM the administrator and I set those administrator privileges for the Setup.exe and for all the other .exe files in the folder. Is there some obscure HP reason for this? It never happens with any other installation software.
Here is the exact message:-
"System Requirements Results.
"This computer has been checked for the requirements to install this product.
"This system does not meet one or more of the minimum requirements needed to install this product. The Installation cannot continue until this is resolved.
"Details and Guidance: This software cannot be installed using the 'Run As...' command. The installation cannot continue until this is resolved.
"Required Action: Click Cancel to exit this software installation. Log off and then log on as a user with administrator privileges. (Contact your system administrator, etc., etc., etc...)"
Re an error message when using the Ethernet cord: there was some message but Luke and I didn't take enough notice of it to remember it. We just decided it wouldn't work and abandoned it! I have read most of the 'Fatal Error 1603' page but hesitate to try its suggestions because of the "...product might not have all its extra functionality..." caveat.
Still up the gumtree,
Kind regards,
Mark
