Printer = HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-in-One

No system changes were being made when this error occurred.
The message is as follows: Scanner Failure. Unable to Scan, Copy or Send a Fax. Turn power off and on and then try again.
I have tried shutting down the printer and starting it back up again. I have tried unplugging the printer from the electrical source and plugging it in elsewhere. I have totally disconnected all wires leading from the printer to the tower and to the electrical supply...wating for 5 minutes, and more, to reconnect. No remedy has worked thus far.
Please note that I am able to print from the computer only but cannot copy or scan from the scanner bed and cannot fax. I have tried to research the problem further and am seeing, via interrnet inquiry, that the problem may be with a faulty "Scanner Lamp" that does not heat or illuminate properly. I cannot, however, verify that to be true.
If that is the problem, can the lamp be ordered and replaced? If that is not the problem, can you suggest what it may be and how to remedy it? The printer worked perfectly before this message and I have never had a problem with it. :robotfrustrated:
