Greetings from Australia, yep this printer is making a world wide splash.
Being a baby boomer and not wanting to junk stuff, I took this printer off my daughter before she could dump it. Thought it would be a good exercise for the retired person to fix, I have never met such a machine, lol, it thwarts you at every move.
Right now it's been doing the "preparing printer" thing for about 2 beers, it is just on 6pm here.
I've been playing with this thing for a couple of days now and the HP forum has helped a lot, I got it past the fatal error stage, thought I'd got past the 'empty cartridge' stage by buying a new one (eventually 2 genuine HP) now I have the 'you have a damaged cartridge' stage and ironically it will now only accept an empty genuine yellow cartridge which it insists is counterfeit.
So I've done the partial reset, the press the back arrow 4 times on start up to access the reset menu, where I was able to reset it, but when I was going through the set up menu the dreaded cartridge issue reared it's ugly head again and now it's preparing itself, for what I don't know... perhaps it will self immolate on my desk.
